Opinions hereabouts seem to be mixed as to House Of Leaves. Personally, I loved it (apart from, I seem to remember, a part where he tried to do the "voices" of various real celebs in TV interviews, which wasn't actually BAD, but did tend to break the spell). Sequences like the guy burning the pages of the book in order to have light to write by were, though it had passed the realm of plausibilty by that point, wonderful.
I did, however, think "this guy's used up ALL the ideas he's had in his entire life in this one book". And I didn't mean that in a bad way- they were great ideas, and imho a great book. But I kind of figured he'd vanish off the radar after that, job done.
But no! He has a new book out, Only Revolutions, about which I know little other than it's a "road novel" told from two simultaneous points of view. And that there is a "suggested way" to read it.
The website looks interesting, but I've just ordered the book from my local bookshop, and am not sure I want to know too much.
Given it's been out a few weeks now, apparently, has anyone read it yet?
Please flag any spoilers, at least for a while... |
