So I´m walking around this nice large city from 13th to 18th september and would like to see some London Barbeloids in their RL suits!

As I´m on vacation, any time on the 13th - 17th is fine with me, so if someone would like to meet up, but hasn´t the opportunity on one day, we can meet another day. Especially in the evenings, I don´t plan on doing anything tourist-like, so I´m open to your suggestions.

Caveat to pub meetings: At my last visit, several Londoners were aghast about my poor consumption of alcoholic beverages. They aren´t my favourite choice of drink, I do not mind other people getting drunk though.

Sunday the 17th mayhap?

Why not saturday the 16th? That way sunday is there for any hangovers, ongoing drunken indulgences...

16th sounds good to me...

Ok, I have put evening: Barbeloids in my calendar for the 16th!

After failing utterly to get to the last one I think I should really make the effort. Plus, London = Forbidden Planet heh heh heh.

As it so happens I'll be in London during September too, from the 7th until the 21st, and I'd love to join you. I almost certainly won't drink quickly enough though.

I want to move to London. Although I was born in England, I haven’t spent more than two weeks at a time there since I was nine. I’ll be looking to rent a flat, open a bank account and get the official paperwork done while I’m there in September, but I'd surely make time on the 16th, if that’s OK with the rest of you.

I think Thursday 14th should provide you with all your socialising, drinking, and dancing to excellent music needs.

Very nice, I have also added thursday!

And I would move to London too, if it weren´t so expensive. With my ca 675 pounds, I can live very comfortably here. In London I couldn´t even afford to pitch a tent in Hyde Park.

Oh, I won't be there very long either if I don't find work, Mistoffelees, but I've got to give it a go. Regensburg's a lovely town but I feel I've stayed too long, and software developers get pretty well paid in London, so presuming I do find work quickly I will be able to afford it. I don't get the impression it's cheap anywhere in England, to be honest.

So, it is all right if I come along - yeah?

Of course!

Thanks. Can’t wait to meet you.

Well, unless Mist hates you or something. Seems unlikely, though.

Mistoffelees
12:28 / 30.08.06
Everyone can come! The only thing I´d hate, would be me sitting there by myself, crying into my coke zero.

Great news that you're coming over, Mist. See you at Do Dirt.

...although unless Mist's actually a gnome or a Russian dwarf, this is gonna play merry hell with my conception of reality.

There´s motherfuckin´ russian dwarfs on my motherfuckin´ plane!

Evil Scientist, Forbidden Planet = shit, you want Gosh comics instead. Unless you're looking for men with long hair to sneer at you. Saturday the 16th is unlikely for me as I will be the working, so have fun!

Unless you're looking for men with long hair to sneer at you.

Hey, I used to be one of those men. You're right, though. It's rubbish.

Where you wanting to meeting on the 16th?

Mistoffelees
08:41 / 01.09.06
Address for Gosh Comics, please!

And yes, where are we meeting? Will we post the location in-thread, or might this faux-haus stalker still be lurking?

Our Lady Has Left the Building

Gosh comics.

If you're going to Gosh, then the Plough is probably the best bet. It's mere millimetres away.

I might come on the Saturday, since I am planning to go to the Neasden Bunker. Anyone want to join me?

mondo a-go-go

Squirmelia -- yes please.

Mistoflees, since it's London Open House and the Thames Festival that weekend, there's lots to do and see around town, most of it for free. I really recommend the Thames Festival Carnival Parade on Sunday evening if anyone can make it -- I always prefer it to Notting Hill 'cos you can see the costumes and it has fireworks at the end. Not to mention people like Hexstatic playing on the river...

I've been invited to a birthday party on the night of the 16th, though.

Why does everything happen on the same weekend?

Mistoffelees
16:18 / 02.09.06
Ah, another carnival, extra festivaled for me!

I thought of seeing the Nottingham Carnival, but we have a huge one here too, and it is impossible to see anything, because of the huge crowd. So my carnival experiences aren´t that good, especially since I don´t like to be in groups of too many people.

And thanks for the other tips too, Anna. I´ve already researched (i.e. read my London newsletter) what I can do on those days. I´m already training my walking around town, and I remember from my last visit, it´s exhausting. So it will be nice, if there is interesting stuff happening all around me, with no need for walking kilometer after kilometer.

It's well easy in London, Mistof. My mate J went to Hyde Park to see the Foo Fighters and on her 2nd day saw about five cool things just by falling out of bed (pretty much).

I've booked a ticket for the 3.30pm Neasden Bunker tour. Phone number for tickets is: 020 8782 4239.

Where you wanting to meeting on the 16th?

That´s actually a very good question! At what time do we arrive at the pub, and where is it?

Mistoffelees
12:21 / 10.09.06
As always, I research after asking, and found a plough pub at the British Museum; this must be it:

27 Museum Street, Tel. 08713322086

But I stand by my asking of when do we meet.

Regrettable Juvenilia
23:13 / 10.09.06
And of course you know where you're going to be on the 14th, right?

Mistoffelees
05:27 / 11.09.06
Yes, of course, thanks to your link with specific instructions!

And for the pub: is 20.00 too late or is 19.00 too early? What say you?

sleazenation
05:48 / 11.09.06
Dude - it's a saturday - we could meet at three if you fancy...

ONLY NICE THINGS
07:29 / 11.09.06
Welcome to England!

Mistoffelees
13:10 / 11.09.06
Ok, so 15.00 then? That would mean, I´d fall right from the comics shop into the pub!
