Does anyone know anything about the Moshuh Nanren which doesn't come from Haha Lung's books? Google just spits out an endless parade of bullshido and forum angst. I don't really mind if this stuff is fantasy and fluff, I just want source materials rather than second-degree gahhbahj...

Try asking the same question here. Barbelith user Mr. Tricks is involved with the publications tied to those forums.

Sure, sorry;

it is rumoured that ninjas are culturally descended from various chinese and other sources - these guys are among them...

The trouble is, of course, that this kind of discourse is almost always fraught with addenda from those who can, like, totally flip out and ninjaclaw!!! and so on. Not the best at references and footnotes...

So I'm going to check out those links - thanks, chaps and chappesses.

(The Mortal Kombat thing is about a reference to the situation in MK, which obviously clouds the googling...)

"Mo" is a Chinese word, but "shuh" isn't. Probably "shu," but I dunno.

Oh, and "nanren" means "men" as in "male" (nan) "people" (ren). It's also the name of a village in Henan.

Ninjutsu history, echoed in part (with some Japanese names for the Chinese refugee generals) over here.

Both pages have contact info.
