The thought of you going to NY and going to see a band with such an industrial pedigree and fanbase tickles me, dude. Make sure you pack your black stormtrooper outfit.

Right, this fucking pillock has been warned enough. Bedhead and I had to delete hir last thread, and ze does have a history of this kind of thing.

I'm moving to delete this, and I'll posting to the banning thread tommorrow.

Why do you want to purge my posting? There is a link to
all the necessary information at the Galapagos website.
Do I have to blab on and on about an event to make mentioning it worth while?!

"Right, this fucking pillock has been warned enough. Bedhead and I had to delete hir last thread, and ze does have a history of this kind of thing.

Yes, I have a history of mentioning events that I think
would be of interest to the community. Other people post
their weekly going to a pub and getting drunk and you don't
seem to mind that. What is your problem?

For those interested check out www.genesisp-orridge.com for
more information on the concert series.

Ok, so, anyone interested in going to the PTV let me know and we can meet up beforehand in the ante-chamber of Galapagos. I will be wearing an op art dress and be in the company of a very cute red head and an older gentleman (my father).

There is a link to information in two places, why should
I clutter up threads with repetition?

As well, the "Gatherings" section is rife with postings about people getting together to get drunk at pubs, which sometimes but usually doesn't have anything to to with creativity or magick but is mostly about self indulgent chatter and killing brain cells and NOT doing creative things but rather idling away time swilling beer like your parents and grandparents and great-grandparents did. HOW revolutionary!!!

If for some reason you want to drive me off the site, why not just be polite enough to ask in the open and state your complaints?

I drink like a cunt. All the time. And I'm a harder magician than you'll ever be.

So there.

And my Grandad is a bigger revolutionary than you'll ever be, as well as a brewer of fantastic stout and regular face in pretty much every pub in Chester.

Why does Savage only get angry when someone slags off alcohol?

I don't know, but have you noticed how savage also starts talking in the third person when they do so?

Savage had not noticed that.

Savage will attempt to stop.

Dammit, Savage cannot.

I do think that changing a thread summary, without asking
the original poster or even communicating with them about
what problems you might have with the original thread
summary is not only impolite and cowardly but borders on
totalitarian.

So often websites, magazines, etc. that purport to be some
kind of outlet and community tool for activation quickly
turn into cliqueish dens of immature power mongering. Power
indeed seems to corrupt and the pettier the power, the more
petty the uses it is put to.

Regrettable Juvenilia
12:36 / 08.09.06
Hang on a second - was there even an original summary, or was it just blank?

Bed Head
13:34 / 08.09.06
No, of course there wasn’t.

Take pity on me, Caleigh, because I don’t know what a psychic tv is, I don’t know when it’s playing Brooklyn, or precisely whereabout this is going to happen. And that’s the sort of thing that generally goes into the summaries - as explained here.

There wasn’t a summary, so I wrote one for you. Based on what you had written. But! If you’re not happy with it, then because it’s your thread, you’ll find there’s a button in the bottom left-hand corner that says ‘edit topic’ and you can just write a new one. Really, please do. You have that power! This is how barbelith works.

Other stuff about How Barbelith Works in the Policy section, where the discussion I linked you to before is continuing, and other people have had other things to say about yr posting style and yr threads. I’m a big nasty snarky summary-writing monster, I know, but lots of other people are being much nicer about yr stuff, so perhaps it’d be nice of you to go and engage with that discussion, rather than just complaining about the wider barbeblith and what they choose to get up to.

Although I do reserve the right to change the content of every post you make to "I am an enormous community tool. For activation!".

I can see why you and Vladimir get on, Caleigh.

Anyway, Bed Head, don't be a stupid. A psychic TV is a TV with psychic powers. "Brooklyn" is the name of a TV sitcom, starring Brooklyn Beckham, which is made in the future but which the psychic TV can pick up. Because it is psychic. People come from far and wide to watch the psychic TV, and t see what middle-of-the-road situation comedy our children will view. Perhaps we will see some hint of our own doom in that 26-inch LCD screen...

Caleigh
14:59 / 10.09.06
who is Vladimir?

Caleigh
15:19 / 10.09.06
oh, yeah, Vlad. I haven't seen him for ages. Not since the PTV show at umm... knitting factory or the hook i think.

Caleigh
15:52 / 10.09.06
really, why is everyone complaining about there not being enough information about the event when the very first post in the thread is an active link to not only date, time, what is it? info but a link to ticket sales as well.

are barbeliths too lazy to click on a link? guess so

are barbeliths too lazy to click on a link? guess so

That argument might have worked better - and been less laughably ironic - if you'd bothered to make the link clickable, Caleigh, rather than leaving the rotten moderators to do it for you.

Caleigh, apologies for my earlier outburst. IRL stuff was frustrating me and I took it out on you. Unacceptable. My bad.

However, before you start going on about what "everyone" is doing, immature and cowardly behavior, and totalitarian administration systems, perhaps you should have a thorough read of the thread over in Policy (link above).

In fact, perhaps you should have a thorough read of board policy full stop.

You know, in order to actually get some idea what you're talking about. Crazy idea, I know.

So, let me make sure I understand this. There's a transvestite with psychic powers, who has written a play, presumably based on hir own remarkable life, which is on in Brooklyn, NY? That sounds great. When's it on?

Tannhauser's friends, the mice: I'm so glad that you took the time to explore all the information available to you. It's a testament not only to your native intelligence, but to the strength and purity of your character.

So, hang on. Psychic TV, the perimenopausal noise band kept afloat by credulous people who have read Peter Carroll and become unduly self-important at a very young age, have recorded a cover version of the Marillion classic "Kayleigh", and are playing it for the first time in Brooklyn, NY?

Or is it that they are using this claim to draw attention from a series of daring heists to be performed by Kenneth Grant's astral form at all of Brooklyn's major banks, thus "playing" Brooklyn, NY?

It's all so confusing...

I now have the mental image of Genesis P-Orridge sat down with David Beckham's kid and a Lou Reed album.

Were I in New York, I'd be well up for this (and it'd be nice to see caleigh again)... I'm not, though.

Stoatberry, when I make it to Britain I'll look you up.

Though my advice to you is to stay as far away from me as possible and to deny knowing me or ever having met me. I wouldn't want you to be dragged down with me.

PTV should have a new album out around the new year and then are planning
a european tour (should you care in the least).

cheers

interesting too that even though i have submitted a long and very detailed summary to this topic (at the request of the moderators) they have decided NOT to use it and instead keep this sarcastic and mean spirited one up. long live bile! long live barbelith!

That's not a "they", Caleigh. One mod vote against prevents an action. It's a "he" or a "she". Or "other".

Anyone want to share their feelings on that one? Despite the aggressive tone, Caleigh seems desperate for our approval, so perhaps we should try to be nice to the poor wain. After all, it's not every day we get a member of her quality. It would be a shame if we upset her.

and once again a post with a superior, negative and sarcastic tone.

THEY seems to me to be the perfect non-gender specific word to use when the gender
of the person is unknown or in doubt and there is no name or other specifier handly.

eg. "What is that person doing?" "They seem to be rubbing themselves with poo poo"

Ah - forgive me. I had no idea that you intended the epicene pronoun. There's a thread on this in the Head Shop, which you might find interesting.

In the meantime, I'm a bit bored with this, people. We can just leave Caleigh to continue to demonstrate what an absolute peach princess she'd be to spent an evening listening to Khaos dadrock with, but I don't really see a lot of point in further engagement. We've asked her to provide the most basic courtesy to her fellow members, she has demonstrated a baseline ability to do it when prodded, end of story. We've got bigger things to worry about right now than Violet Beauregard over here.

Um, Haus, I think ze was asking you stop with that gendered fun.

Caligh, moderation requests on the quieter forums can take longer to be processed over a weekend. However, I think it should have been done by now so have any of the mods turned down a request to change the summary?

Um, Haus, I think ze was asking you stop with that gendered fun.

You think incorrectly, as far as I can tell. Could you point out where you believe that happened?

What I believe you may be confused about is Caleigh's gloss that she was using "they" as an epicene pronoun rather than as a plural. Looking back, this is in fact not true - the implied subject of the verb was "the moderators". I was trying to explain how moderation worked, in order to make it clear that she was not the victim of a conspiracy. However, it seems Caleigh is not able to process simple correction as anything other than a personal attack, which has so far informed all attempts to get her to contribute a bit of meat to her threads. Which is a shame, because it means that people who were initially sympathetic to her, such as yours truly, now see her as a bit of a pain.
