A federal judge finally fucks the administration

U.S. District Judge Anna Diggs Taylor in Detroit became the first judge to strike down the National Security Agency's program, which she says violates the rights to free speech and privacy, as well as the separation of powers enshrined in the Constitution.

But the NSA plans an apeal.

And, do you really think that laws against spying on the american people will really stop this administration and its cronies?

I dont. I think that the people that do the spying will simply stop reporting that they are doing it. It will burrow deeper underground, and the groups will gain even more power because they have lost the way of checks and balance

Your average NSA analyst isn't out to subvert the Constitution in an attempt to grab power so I'm wondering what groups you're referring to and what power you're speaking of.

I wonder why you would think ze was referring to the average NSA analyst as opposed to people of influence within the NSA and the US government at large -- those being the people who are usually involved in power grabs and such, having motive and opportunity and all.

A) I'm not here to guess at what people are trying to say. Ender's post didn't specify about what groups he was speaking of so I asked him to clarify.
B) I never said he was referring to the average analyst

I don't think Ender should be overly concerned. Now that wiretapping has been publicized and ruled unconstitutional, getting people to both conduct the wiretapping and keep it secret is going to be much harder than it was previously. Until I see Bush put on a pair of headphones, I'm going to assume that such operations rely on the work of your average analyst. Since the case no longer rests in murky legal waters, getting workers to conduct illegal activities is going to be exceedingly difficult.
