Can anyone recommend a relaxing break?

Hi all,

Been working in London non-stop for the last two years, including a 3 month period with no day/weekends off and almost burned out.

I need to take a cheap (cheap-ish) break somewhere - 5 days, 4 nights, relaxing, but fun.

Any recommendations?

Thanks Giant Haystacks.

Can I ask where in Barcelona? Any hotel recommendations? Any beaches/locations?

Well, I stayed with friends, so I can't help you with hotels. We only went to the beach one day (Canet Del Mar), train trip about 50 minutes out of the city. Rest of the time, we saw the sights, plus drank and ate incredibly well. Highpoint was getting out to the mountains in Monserrat which you have to do if you go - take the cable car. BTW, it'll be super hot right now, I think August isn't prime season for this reason.

I just spent a weekend in Krakow. Poland is great - super cheap and they've got an awful lot of cool places to see.

seconding barcelona - if you are looking to stay in a hostel, i recommend home guesthouse/hostel... it's a little way out of the centre, and has a lovely atmosphere.
