This slow grooving but enticing series keeps putting a smile on my face every month.
After emmersing in the detailed work of Quietly,Cassaday,Williams, etc, it's really nice to take a break a get into Guy Davis' loose and moody strokes. Plus their play on old myths and folklore never ceases to entertain. Anyone else digging this offshoot series?

Yeah, I love it. Not as much as Hellboy, but not far off. It's Lovecraft meets the X-Files, for sure, but with a healthy dose of Aliens injected into the mix.

I'm seriously considering a tattoo of the logo.

I'm a big Hellboy fan, and Mignola's art is a big part of that, but Davis' art on this series is so good I haven't missed Mignola one bit.
Excellent stuff.

Oh, I love this series! Hellboy got a bit too onedimensional, always going anung un rama on those huge monsters, and I never liked the way, christian symbols defeated the werewolfs, ghosts and whatnot.

And these days BPRD has such a likable cast! They sit around the coffee table and tell each other their worst experiences and nightmares, yet it seems so comfy.

Minor complaint: the infamous comic book trap of killing off characters and then bringing them back to life. That always takes me out of the story, makes me go: "oh yes, Jean Grey, fourth wall, comic cliché, lack of imagination on the writer´s part".

Right now, I really like this huge lair of the alchemist, where he shares the space with his monstrous relatives. And that panel where the wolf all of a sudden talks to the guy in the phone booth, wow!

Have you read the one that came out this week? I thought the Jean Grey syndrome was avoided very nicely.

I love it. I purchased "The Black Flame" TPB the other day and I think it's one of the best things to come out of the Hellboy universe ever. I agree with Mistoffelees: Hellboy got a little repetitive. BPRD has more depth to it, especially with the ensenble cast. I think the writing's better than it was in Hellboy too, there's more little character touches coming from everyone.

God but the moment where Zilco's CEO tromps into the boardroom with his supervillain outfit was beautiful.

"You´re all fired." Yes, that looked like an office slave´s dream come true.

And I haven´t bought the new one yet. I better get to the shop tomorrow: Last day, before the owners have a three week holiday.

There's this silly little animated short over at Sci Fi Channel's site of the Amazing Screw-On Head. It's really well done with Mignola's style to a tee.
