So I've been caning "Over & Over" er, over and over. Not got the 2 albums yet but I'm sure that's just a matter of time. What I've heard so far is pretty good in a Beta Band / Underworld kind of a way.

Or are they just pilfering white boys from West London?

I just got Boy from School on a mix cd from Jeed and on the strength of it bought the album. It's good stuff if more down beat than the live show lead me to believe. I saw them suport Goldfrapp and they were really good. More whn I've given the album a better listen.

I've been lisening to Coming On Strong. While They're obviously a talented bunch, they lack a certain "oomph." Are their other albums more, shall we say, full bodied?

I just bought the current album on the strength of watching them play a couple of tracks live on the TV coverage of the Reading festival. I like so far. I have worked out the elusive cadence of the K-I-S-S-I-N-G-S-E-X-I-N-G...

i think it is live that hot chip really come into their own, it is like watching the special needs music class in a school for kids with high functioning autism try to recreate a prince record using analogue synths,
awkward, intense, funky and strange. can't recommend them live too much to be honest.

Me too. Essentially, I agree with t'others; it's not bad, but lacks oomph and looked better live. Maybe it'll grow.

Just got the 2 albums in the post. The Warning is defintitely the stronger of the two. It reminds of some alt-universe hybrid of Underworld and The Beta Band.

Their vision of electronica is full of nostalgia and ambiguity.

The ironically-titled Coming On Strong is piss-weak in comparison (apart from the sublime Down With Prince). Wishy-washy synths without beats that bite.

I just hope they decide to play Australia.
