I was scoping out the painted grasshoppers last night. They are quite striking, aren't they? whatisthatbug is some of the greatest entomology porn available.
It strikes me as amazing, though, how many people in my geographic area have written in asking after some of the most common insects - did these people not get to play in the dirt as children?
What strikes me as even more amazing is, according to whatisthatbug, there are rhinoceros beetles only an hour's drive from here! A-hunting I will go! Yay, thumb-sized beetles! |
