has anyone made any experiences with piracetam? I got a box full sitting on my shelf and I am waiting for the right situation to try it out. what does one do, to have the fullest experience of a suddenly seriously enhanced iq?

the book on my shelf says its the safest of all smart drugs, with no apparent toxicity, even in high doses. But it was written a year or two back. It's described as being like 'waking up your brain', is a chemical analogue of the GABA neurotransmitter, and enhances the flow of information between the two hemispheres of your brain, it says here, and so is associated with flashes of creative insight. Can you buy it in a chemist in the UK, d'you know?
Dunno how to go about experiencing it fully - watch Countdown or something? Be good to take before an exam I suppose.

I tried to buy it here once, but it didnt work. i got mine from a former girlfriend who works as a nurse in the psychiatric ward of a hospital in Germany. not really that legal.
I thought about taking it before exams, but then again, I never ever got good marks, when I wrote smart things, so I didnt.

I've got some limited experience with it. If I'm not mistaken, Piracetam needs to be taken several times a day for a period of weeks before it becomes fully effective, as opposed to an analogue, Piramecitam (or something). Piramecitam's effects are much more immediate, but very temporary. I noticed a difference even after the first time I took it, very awake, but I couldn't tell you for sure I wasn't just shocked awake by it's rather unigue, almost entirely unpleasant taste. I slipped of my dosage regimen, and don't have the supply to start it up without getting more, so I don't know how one feels after the a month's time of taking it, but even so, I can tell you it does, at least somewhat do what it says it does. I didn't experience any side effects other than grimacing funny thrice daily when I swallowed the concoction. One piece of advice, get yourself a bottle of Choline, (available at any GNC). Can't remember the specifics, but if Piracatem speeds your brain up or rebuilds something, you need to supply it with enough of the right fuel/building blocks, which Choline apparently is. Good luck, and I apologize for the less-than-scientific explanation.

but what do you do recommend to do while being on it?

Well, do you have Piracetam, commercially named Nootropil? Or is it the Piramicetam (sp?)? If it's the former, taking a dose will not, unless you are super-sensitive to chemicals, give you a suddenly seriously enhanced iq. You may within a few minutes feel more awake, more aware of your surroundings, etc. If it is the Piramicetam, it will be a more immediate effect.
As far as what to do, take a test to see if your mental processing/memory retrieval is noticably better. Play some pinball to determine if hand-eye coordination has improved. Wander around the streets and introduce yourself to perceiving the world under the influence of a chemical previously alien to your nueral chemistry.
Mainly play some pinball.

actually its lavishly called Normabrain, but says Piracetam in smaller letters underneath. Cheers for the pinball tip. I ll do that. Shall I also attempt to write a novel, do you reckon? About Pinball maybe?

Back when I was is HS, we used to be able to get it direct from Germany over here. We sort of warmailed the sources in the back of Mind Food and Smart Pills and the Mondo User's Guide. After a few weeks of taking it - mask it with something (putting it on cereal wasn't too bad) - noticable (?) effects of increased concentration and more vivid colors/shapes appeared. Not much for recreational use, as far as I could tell.

If you're using it for concentration or memory, B-12 is more available and probably better...

what's b12 then?

the vitamin, I suppose... you need a good dose of B-vitamins for proper brain activity

Just a vitamin in the B Complex. It's the primary component of the myelin sheaths on your neurons. Some of the lit says megadosing on B-12 strengthens those sheaths and injections are sometimes used to combat Alzheimers. It has no known toxicity, but you need to remember to take it with a pretty large B-Complex does with it, as the B vitamins tend to supercede one another (taking too much of one and not enuf of the others can cause temporary deficiencies.)

I've taking upo to around 500k % of the USRDA (I actually don't know what the equivalent scales are) and noticed no ill effects over long periods. It's great for memorization and recall, (like anything, taking it when you want to do both is a good idea.)

Should be available anywhere you find a decent selection of vitamins. Get the highest dosage possible, and get sublingual (under the tongue) liquid or tablets.

Well, I've been using Nootropil for a couple of months; not daily, but once for two, three days... and not on weekends.

The first times it has given me a _very_ strange feeling in my mind - everything looked clear, sutdying was faster and easy, and meditation (and magick) was fantastically easy and efficient.

You have to test and see the best dosage for you; in the beggining, I used it every day, but with the time, the effects begun to fade. Using it now two or three times a week is giving me the best responses.

...used clinically for treatment (well, control) of myoclonic seizures (and non-specific tics, choreas etc) - probably just due to its general GABAergic effect.....

According to Warren Ellis, big doses of B vitamins make you smart, but make you piss weird. I verified this with some friends who have taken huge B-bombs to clean THC from their piss. Anyway, vitamin B and choline works for most people. They're both widely available, and not too pricey. If you just want a quick fix, a can of Sobe Adrenalin has a bunch of B vitamins and choline (though not as much as most people like to take) plus caffeine and guarana. [I know I mention Adrenalin every time smart/energry drinks/drugs come up, but I swear I'm not a marketing rep! =)]

One nice thing about piracetam is that it has one of the lowest levels of toxicity I've ever seen on a chemical safety sheet.

One not so nice thing is that a large proportion of the relevant studies fail to find significant improvements in performance, especially for healthy, well-nourished individuals such as yourself.

The problem with choline is the oily, fishy smell of the skin... Piss weird in what manner?

Apparently it gives your urine a "neon tint" or some such. This lasts a day or two from what my friends who use it to flush their systems tell me.

I swear that's b-2 (Niacin). It's accompanied by a corresponding smell unique to the vitamin.

HA!!! That would be a nice storyline...someone so becomes so intelligent all of a sudden that he can´t relate and comminicate anymore with normal people for the method is too simple...like using a Sinclair Spectrum (mind you, i´m not dissing the Spectrum...) while your mind upgraded to Cray level....

Thats actually correct. I was busy pondering over highly philosophical subject matters beyond the sphere of normal human comprehension with my newfound and optimised brain range, when suddenly a police man knocked at the door, told me to put my hands where he could see them and evicted me out of my friend s flat in a mere 10 minutes. This unfortunate incident for once made my current lifestyle rather nomadic, while at the same time cutting me of my supply of piracetam and my nice consistent internet access.
So first of all, there was no progress to report or rather no no process to report since there was no piracetam to consume, since I dont-know-how-it-happened, but I left it in the flat along with my comic-books in a surge of insanity. and secondly there was no internet to report it (not) with in my reach.
Beside in meantime me got stoopit again.
