I have a suggestion for French rap, you might of heard of him, his name is MC Solaar He is very famous in France and he has gained some internation acclaim because he worked on Guru's Jazzmatazz project. MC Solaar has also worked with De La Soul when they held concerts in France. But his solo work really is really what makes him who he is.

Some tracks that I recommend are La Belle Et Le Bad Boy, which was used in the final episode of Sex and the City. It has a great beat and very good rhymes and flow. I also like the song Bouge De La, which is the song that really propelled him to stardom. Some other good songs are Au Pays De Gandhi , Gangster Moderne and Solaar Pleure. So check out this good French rapper with a good flow, awesome rhymes and hot beats.

Buraka Som Sistema, deserved their mention, and if you like them you like Bonde Do Role too.

Que? They often work together.

Anyone know anything good and new from Greece or Thailand?

I thought there was just the Buraka remix of a BDR track. And well, I don't think they sound alike enough for that "if..." link to be justifiable. Poppy baile funkisms and club music with African influences...? (I for one enjoy Buraka and really enjoy the singles and don't at all care for BDR.)

(More like "pseudo-European club music with African pop/club music influences", I guess.)

I stumbled across Rachid Taha while browsing through some punk stuff online, and bought a copy of his Tekitoi, it's really good. Link to follow once I'm out of this filter, in the meantime, well, it's Arabic and French language and combines guitar punk with more traditional forms and percussion, 'sgreat.
I know next to nothing about Rai and/or Arabic language folk music in general, so if anyone has any pointers to more good stuff I'd be delighted.

(edit) Here we are, here's Ya Rayah.
