If we can have a topic about Celebrity Love Island then we sure as hell can have one about Bad Girls. And why Barbelith? Is there not one already?
I’m a newcomer to this program but after watching the first episode of the latest series I’m hooked. Deciding to watch it due to the presence of Amanda Donahue, I found the episode to be quite topical: a new inmate who is Muslim is wrongly suspected of poisoning the inmates, the reason for her incarceration is pretty flimsy, she wouldn’t provide information about her “terrorist” husbands whereabouts and her religion is treated with total disrespect by the officers.
From what I can gather from the first episode and trailer for the next is that the “screws” are no better than the inmates (apart from Sid Owens’s character who is just like Ricky from Eastenders), the Governor is uptight and a bit incompetent, her deputy (Donahue) seems both competent and verrry liberal. Amongst the “cons”, the one who seems to be top dog or should that be bitch has lost her muscle due to the poisoning, and from seeing the trailer, is soon to loose her place to a sassy dark haired girl sporting a Clash t-shirt who was one of my favourites from the first episode.
So, did anyone watch it, are there any long term fans who can fill us in on the history and is this the best program about a women’s prison since "prisoner call block h"? Is it the only one since then? |
