If anyone has a problem getting my references (e.g. Counting Coup), I suggest you follow the links I took time to provide and read the wiki articles I linked to. They make VERY interesting reading (IMO)

You probably won't find much mention of either in Deadwood (although I still haven't seen it, so...)

Olulabelle, you're right. Plus, there's always the possibility that some of us aren't on drugs like Crack and Skunk, while others have been drinking alcohol and spouting insults about others. Anything's possible. Including "projection".

Thanks Lula, that's a good point and you've helped me see it was insensitive and unkind of me. I realise I had thought it helped to read it that way in order to see it as temporary illness condition happening to someone who could otherwise respond more creatively. Taking your point, I can equally do that without any drugs references at all.

I think it wouldn't make me angry to be accused of being on drugs, just because I know that intoxication from anything stronger than coffee is a rare event in my life, so it would glance off. That being suggested would prod me towards reflecting about whether I did in fact need a sanity check; it would have been better if I had already absorbed that to PW it doesn't have that effect.

Apologies, paranoidwriter and everyone. This is me learning to do better in future.
