What it says on the tin, as they say. Here's a concise summary.
Michael Strahan is one of those rare athletes who is beloved by media and fans alike, in and out of his team's region. He is probably the most recognizable defensive player in the NFL, which is the most popular sports league in the US.
"Michael moved into Ian's one-bedroom apartment," Jean Strahan said, according to the Daily News. "And you can say an alternative lifestyle sprouted." Her lawyer then stopped her before she could elaborate
She has since retracted the statement, claiming that by "alternative lifestyle," she meant "sleeping with lots of different women," which sounds a little weak, in my opinion.
If it is true that Strahan is gay, it would be the first time a bonafide sports superstar has been outed while still playing professionally in the US.
I'm very interested in this story. If he is gay, this could be a watershed moment for gay professional athletes in America. There are few players more better known or liked than Strahan, so his actions, and the actions of the media, could bring gay players into the media in a whole new way, for better or worse.
