Anyone else heard Bruce Springsteen's new album of covers of songs that Pete Seeger performed? I love Born to Run, and generally like Springsteen's stuff, but I wasn't too sure about this project, which I was expecting to be another somber acoustic affair.
However, I saw this live video and was just blown away. He's taken what this folk song and turned it into this amazing dixieland jam. He's got the most people I've seen on stage since The Polyphonic Spree and they all get to do some nice solo work. Really cool.
That track's probably the highlight, but there's a lot of other great stuff on there, and it's easily one of his best albums. I love it because it sounds like nothing else out there, despite the dixieland trappings, it feels very vital and now. I'd highly reccomend giving it a listen. |
