Sunday June 25: Mikes On Bikes, the Queer Boys' Bicycle Contingent in the LGBT Pride Parade, is now recruiting riders for their 10th annual pleasure cruise down Market Street on Sunday, June 25th. Join 150+ buggery bikers as we celebrate a Decade of Queer Freedom---from friggin' MUNI & metermaids! Go wild & decorate yourself & your ride, or just come as you are. A sliding-scale registration fee ($5-$10) will be collected parade morning & gets you on the list for that evening's now-notorious MOB after-party, with beer, a bike check & a hot tub full of cute boys waiting just for you! 24-hr Info/ Pre-registration Hotline: 415-905-8854 P.S. Watch out for those trolley tracks---at least one queen goes down every year!
This year's ride is dedicated to Spider Davila, a local queer cyclist/activist/dj/beloved bon vivant who only last December spent two weeks in & out of consciousness in St. Luke's Intensive Care Unit, his arm broken, sinuses shattered, and jaw fractured in 40 places after he was deliberately struck down on his bicycle by a hit-and-run SUV driver -- Yet our boy recovered sufficiently from his injuries to ride 585+ miles in this month's SF-to-LA AIDS/LifeCycle! And he still looks cute! TV movie, anyone? Partial proceeds from this year's ride/after-party will go toward helping defray the cost of the extensive dental surgery Spider faces in the months to come.
