Well, I spent about two months reading heaps of posts on the board and marvelling at properly constructed arguments, the fantastic humour and the myriad of personalities that make the 'Lith what it is. I applied to join, and unfortunately it took around nine months for me to work my way to the front of the queue. But I got in, which has been splendid.
These days, I post on anything I can, although I still find the site a wee bit daunting, and often feel like I miss things. When a discussion has kicked off properly, I feel awkward about joining in. Guess I'm still a wee bit shy.
I just need to find a topic I actually know a decent chunk about, so that I can really cut my Barbe-teeth on a proper debate (I tried to do this with my my Military/Paramilitary 101 thread, but clearly there ain't a thirst for my knowledge or opinion in that field. Och well, here's hoping it gets used someday. |
