what's striking me most about the album is how infinitely more fantastic it is at full CD quality sound. I think the sounds that Yorke used on the album are highly susceptible to mp3 compression damage. When I heard the leaked mp3s a few weeks back, I was sort of "meh" on it...it felt very flat and unexpectional. Listening to the full CD this morning on a decent system, I was completely blown away by how deep and subtle it is. It's quickly climbing up the list in my mind of great releases this year.
Maybe I'm missing something only having the mp3s on my ipod. At first I was excited about this album and really liked it, but after listening to it every day for a week or two it started to get really flat and almost abrasive sounding. Which I'm not happy to say at all... I love his singing on this album and the music seems to have potential but it just isn't sounding very full to me. |
