A while back, I posted about the start of my comic series, Division Shadow. Now it's finished and is available to buy in one volume. It's 184 pages of content for only $15, and you get the complete story. I'm hoping this is the kind of book you could pass to someone who doesn't read comics, and with this one book, show them a bit of what the medium can do. Or, at least that not every comic involves someone in spandex.

It's a three strand narrative, tracking a whole bunch of characters in an Altmanesque structure. They range from a military lifer General to a frustrated suburban housewife, and action takes place in America and the Middle East. It's all united by a covert military organization called Division Shadow.

You can buy the book here, and if you want to sample, check out the serialized web comic version here. That will take about a year to finish, so if you're digging the story, pick up the complete book. And if you want more info on the book in general head over to www.divisionshadow.com.

Just bumping this to point out a review we got over at Ain't It Cool which pretty much sums up what I was going for with the series:

"Ambitious is the word I would use to describe this project. And when I say project, that’s what I mean. Not until this story came to an end did I fully understand the scope and appreciate what this book was trying to say. Without giving too much away, it tells a story about the same central material from various different angles offering pieces of a puzzle that comes together only in the end. I admit, I had my suspicions throughout reading the trade, but upon completion of this one there were many “ah-ha!”’s passing my lips...DIVISION SHADOW is the name of a top secret government organization that dates back to the beginning of the American colonies, but this book focuses more on how this all-encompassing organization affects the people tied to it. This book is at its best when focusing on the personal drama and hardships the central characters go through. Adultery, crime, cancer, death, abandonment, sense of duty towards family vs. dedication to one’s occupation; all of these issues are dealt with in this complex patchwork quilt of a story."

I put a lot into the series and would love to get some readers so give it a look online or head over to the official site for more info.

Looks pretty cool - is it a rotating series of artists? I especially like the pencil/crosshatching most recent artist in the most recent preview.

There's three different artists, each doing one chunk of the story, though all the pieces do come together in the end. So, it's not an Invisibles art jam type thing going on here, there's some reasoning behind the different art styles.
