I hated silent comedy. Always have, ever since Harold Lloyd replaced Paddington in the 5:50 slot in the early 1980s. Then a few years ago a friend enthused about a performance of Buster Keaton's Our Hospitality in which a live band played to a restored cut of the film. Hasn't shut up about it since, to be honest.
Anyway, bearing this in mind I watched tomorrow night's documentary about Buster Keaton (the magic of time travel) with an open mind and was blown away. I LAUGHED at a silent film. Lots. The main point of this thread is that I urge everyone who can to watch this, as it's bloody great. A full 20 minute restored and re-scored version of The Goat awaits you at the end.
Just out of interest, is anyone here a silent comedy buff? |
