I am going in to hospital for a major operation on my spine on the 19th of May. The operation is to do complex reconstruction of the spine. This will be my second spine operation the first one was when I was fourteen, twenty years on and I have broken and bent the metal rod running up my spine and one of the screws is rubbing my spine into powder. All I want from you is a hello and good luck as I am terrified.

Hello Nescio. Good luck, I'm sure everything will be fine. I just got out of hospital from a minor op, (nothing like as scary as yours though) and those nurses and doctors are trained to help you feel calm and together. You'll be fine, Barbelith will be thinking about you. Hugs.

I'm not sure if I'm more worried about the operation or the possibility that the pain will still be there after I have recovered and I have wasted all that tax payers money and doctors time on an operation that has left me with another major scar and I am still unable to go anywhere without calling a taxi.

I am actually going into the Royal National Orthopaedic hospital at Stanmore, one of the best places in the UK for bone surgery. Unfortunately it’s miles away from all my friends, however they have all sworn to visit me and I bought a couple of silly books so I should be able to survive.
