Well, the debut album is out today, and I must say I like.
It has the traditional White Stripes feel to it, but it's a bit more polished. Rather than the usual two person garage band formula, this has the benefit of an actual backing band and what sounds like some decent studio work.
"Steady as She Goes", the main single, is definitely the best track on the album, and the video is fantastic. If anything, I will always love this band for pioneering Southern/Indie/Johnny Depp Clone fashion. My only complaint is that there weren't enough songs as catchy and hard as "Steady as She Goes".

i agree with you. The only two songs I like from this album are Steady As She Goes and Blue Veins.

I've had it for a while, and I rather like it, but when I first heard it I was a bit disappointed. Being a fan of both Brendan Benson and Jack White, it's so obvious who wrote what songs. Only the first single, "Steady As She Goes," managed to unite their styles into something more than the sum of it's parts - the rest of the songs on the album are either Benson songs or White songs, as if they made two different albums at the same time, with the same band. That said, both of those albums are very good.

they were fantastic live in london last month, the twin guitar front line coming on like a prog rock Television, i think jack white played better guitar as part of a band than he does when its just him and the drums, it was a bit OTT rocktastic at times but in a good way, i like 'steady' very much but think it is a total steal from 'is she really going out with him' by joe jackson,

I'm curious about seeing them live- saying that they were OTT rocktastic appeals to me cos i'm finding the album a little too 'lite radio rock' ifyaknow what i mean.
A little too restrained for my tastes- i can hear something in the songs- but i want them to let rip a bit more- that said i've only listen to it a couple of times so it may grow on me- alternatively it could sit on my ipod and never get listened to again...
