This is an advance warning.

DO DIRT is a new club night in London, with Joey Muck*, Lex Pretend, Poptext Abby and Token Girl at the controls. Our boy John Cei "Suedehead" "Shot For Meat!" Douglas did the fly illo.

DO DIRT is about mucky pop, rude raps, sleazy rock, filthy electro, horrible house, sweaty funk, grime, and more. DO DIRT encourages making moves, throwing shapes, bumping, grinding, and bouncing.

DO DIRT begins Thursday 29th June, upstairs at Dust (27 Clerkenwell Road, nearest tube Farringdon), 8pm-2am, 3 pounds entry.

At DO DIRT, as well as the names scrawled above, you can expect to hear the likes of: Aggro1 bootlegs, Annie, Tomas Andersson, Ce'cille, Cristina, Felix Da Housecat, Nelly Furtado, Gene Serene, Kano, Mike Jones, Junior Senior, Lady Sovereign, Le Tigre, Lil' Kim, Maki Geil & Playcolt, Michael Dracula, Miss Kittin, Christina Milian, Mobb Deep, Morningwood, Q-Unit, Rihanna, Juelz Santana, Scenario Rock, Shimura Curves, Spank Rock, Three 6 Mafia, Paul Wall, Zeigeist AND MORE.

DO DIRT exists on the evil MySpace here.

*Oh, and that's A.K.A. Flyboy, 'cos DO DIRT is my baby, my special child, and I would very much like Barbelith people to attend.

Think I'm working that night, but I'll try to pop along beforehand.

Spaniel
20:05 / 09.05.06
Well, you know I'd love to, but...

The flyers are great, but isn't 'Do Dirt' in danger of a attracting well, a sort of specific audience?

Spaniel
06:33 / 10.05.06
Hopefully it'll attract the kind of audience It Came From the Sea gets - students, arty types, funsters - and that's proper successful and great.

I think that by operating a strict "no Libertines" policy we will keep all undesirables out, Grandma.

Mono
09:32 / 10.05.06
Crap.

I'm going to be on another continent then.

Best of luck, dude!

Ganesh
09:48 / 10.05.06
Mmm, looks a bit Readers Wifesy in terms of joyous eclecticism, but obviously less retro. Nice.

11:52 / 10.05.06
I hope to be there, dressed wrongly.

(Blast you, Suedehead, for making a studded belt again seem like a viable fashion option when I've just despaired of mine (after fourteen years) and donated it to charity! Which is to say, nice art.)

14:13 / 10.05.06
Looking good, Fly.

I shall try very hard to make this. It sounds GREAT.

Ganesh
14:28 / 10.05.06
On the Readers Wifes thing again, does anyone else find the first pic reminiscent of Kim Phaggs?

Regrettable Juvenilia
14:50 / 10.05.06
The pose (and outfit) are based around a photo of Norwegian popstar Annie - Suedey deliberately made the face and facial expression different, and then I asked for the hair to be dark...

A fascinating insight into the working process, there.

Kit-Cat Club
15:00 / 10.05.06
I intend to be there (and to have lost half a stone, bought some new threads and be looking HOT in honour of the occasion).

Psi-L is working in hell
16:30 / 10.05.06
I also very much intend to be there...all looking very good!

Ganesh
16:45 / 10.05.06
I'm a bit worried that I won't know the newer stuff from the modern-day Hit Parade (that the young people with the fancy plimsolls listen to, etc.) Still, even if I don't know what something is, I'm happy to dance to it. If I can get the Friday off, I'll be there.

Alex's Grandma
16:55 / 10.05.06
I'll certainly be there, along with all my well-heeled, hard-drinking, 'champagne-tastic' old friends from back in the days when I worked in 'the Ciddy.' Unless, that is, something ... untoward, and entirely unconnected, happens in this or that thread that it would, after all, be rather gauche of me to mention.

Goodness Gracious Meme
22:28 / 10.05.06
Wow, I imagine in your day, women weren't common in the 'Ciddy'

I had no idea you were a pioneer grandma.

Christ, nor will I. At least you have the excuse of age.

GGM;

Yes, Jilly Cooper, Judith Krantz and Danielle Steele all based their novels on someone 'closely related' to me. They seemed morbidly obsessed, if you want my honest opinion, about the 'autumn years,' the drug problems, the divorces and so on, but there's a happy ending; I've taken out a contract on all of them. Erm, hypothetically!

19:09 / 11.05.06
I will be there, dressed like Westwood. If anyone takes the "Westwood 101" thing seriously, this night could be your dream come true.

Cherielabombe
20:16 / 11.05.06
Maybe if you're lucky some of "the kids" will clue you in on the hot hits of the day, Ganesh and GGM.

This sounds "groovy" (I hear this is a word all the kids are usin these days)!! I'll be there, ideally wearing my cute cherry bombe themed dress with matching earrings, and I too shall try to get the Friday off (why not?)

Cherielabombe
20:18 / 11.05.06
Oh, and the hair does look a bit Kim Phaggsish..

Ganesh
20:20 / 11.05.06
It was the hair, androgyny and arm-aloftness that reminded me of Kim Phaggs.

Jack Vincennes
22:32 / 11.05.06
I will be there.

Tryphena Absent
23:23 / 11.05.06
I will put your money in my money box. Moneymoneymoney.

mondo a-go-go
13:59 / 22.05.06
I may even make this...

I may even make this...

The Strobe
21:25 / 22.05.06
I will definitely be there. And I will wear my Guitar Hero shirt. Which has nothing to do with the videogame of the same name, but both make me feel awesome.

Regrettable Juvenilia
08:49 / 23.05.06
Yes, do come, all, so that we can put another one on in August that Mono can attend!

Jack The Bodiless
10:06 / 02.06.06
At this stage it is very likely that myself and my other half will be there...

kidninjah
14:25 / 06.06.06
OK, that does it. I have to hold my birthday bash there. (i'll be a ripe young 29 on the 28th). I'll bring a crowd. It'll be lively. See y'all there. Only I won't cos I don't know what any of you look like. Say hello to the albino if the mood takes you.

16:49 / 07.06.06

Bump, bump bump, bump bump (too much rump in the trunk)...

Not only bumping this because it's a little bit nearer the time, but also to mention a few other things you can expect to hear if you come along next Thursday...

Fox 'N' Wolf? Check.
Cansei de Ser Sexy? Yup!
T.I.? If you get there early...
Spank Rock? You'd better believe it.
Stuff off the new Peaches album? YES SIR.

Alex's Grandma
00:18 / 20.06.06
Can we expect to hear tunes by The Feeeling, Dirty Pretty Things and teh Monkeys, also?

Alex's Grandma
00:20 / 20.06.06
And Ian Brown, as well?
