Yes, I watched it. I'd seen it previewed on the Late Review, with the (ludicrously named) Bobby Friction saying he knew people who'd been involved in the Bradford Riots, and it apparently rang true in terms of their experience.
As a drama, I thought it was initially a bit slow-moving and turgid, taking a while to get going. I was watching it with one eye while doing other things. I thought it gathered momentum as it went on, however, and by the time we reached the court scenes I was massively identifying with first-offence Uni kid. The run-up to sentencing was awful, because I had a faint idea what was coming - but was uncertain enough that, when it did come, the injustice of the unbelievably harsh sentence was palpably shocking. The last few scenes left me slightly stunned.
So... I thought it worked. What did you think, though, as a Bradfordian(ish)? |
