Makes me sad

This is more for things in your life or local enviroment which are making you unhappy, without teh urgh! rage!

My best mate J is going away on a four month job in Europe. While I'm abso-fucking-chuffed for her - she's going to have a blast over there - I'm also gutted because she's one of my best buddies. We do a lot of stuff together and I know it's going to leave a big gap in my life while she's gone. Ug

i'm going to be leaving new york city for grad school in three months, and already my interactions with friends here are tinged with sadness. i'm going to be visiting often, but it's different than when i can just decide on a whim to spend the afternoon basking in the sun with friends.

romantic entanglements are still highly unstable, which is sad in another way, as in pathetic.

My baby boy has Strep A, a highly contagious form of Strep that was probably picked up at day care. He was vomiting and running a low-grade fever Wednesday. On Thursday, he was barely keeping liquids down and was very lethargic. All he wanted was to be cuddled and comforted. He was past crying at that time, and could only mewl quietly. Wifey and I started to get very afraid at this point. On Friday, Wifey took him to his pediatrician's office only to be sent to the emergency room. My boy was found to be extremely dehydrated with a very low blood sugar count. We spent that night in the Pediatric ward, and I can now say that the saddest things I've ever seen were an IV tube sticking out of my baby's arm and my baby sleeping in a steel cage crib. Much blood drawn and much crying from everyone. We've all had a few rough days.

Lil' monk was discharged Saturday and I'm taking him to a diagnostic lab at noon today. His blood test revealed a phosphorus level of about 5500 (it should be about 50). The doctor tells us this is due to either a growth spurt or a bone disorder. I'm feeling extremely sad and more or less helpless. Thankfully, he's eating again, and has some of his energy back. He's usually so active, and seeing him sick and tired has been pretty hard.

I just want him to be okay.

Thanks for letting me get this off my chest. I'll try to report back when I know more.

Aww, my sympathies to monk & baby. My brother had the same thing happen to him when he was an infant - I was 8 and still remember seeing his tiny body hooked up to the IV. It was very scary, but he was ok in the end. I hope your little one is happy & healthy again soon.

Jesus, monk, that's horrible.

I hope everything turns out ok, be sure to keep us posted. I'll be wishing you all good luck.

Not so sad anymore.

Another blood test and a visit to the endocrinologist later, everything seems to be okay. The dr. suspected that he had hyperphosphatemia initially (which would be bad, but also unusual since it normally shows up in the elderly and not the younglings), but now says that everything is okay. Odd, but okay. Odd because his phosphate levels are still in the hundreds (which is a rarity, at least diagnositcally speaking), but okay because he doesn't seem to be in any pain. The boy is eating like a HORSE, and just the other day took his first steps, so Wifey and I are sure the increased phosphate levels are due to a growth spurt. The little guy's got a follow-up in six weeks just to be sure, but our worries are gone now.

Yay! I like lil' monk, that pic of him in the baby thread is great. Ruffle his hair for us!

Sad- Godwarrior's youngest daughter. Her distressed face as she was psychologically scarred on live TV, the poor lamb. It must be really hard to deal with a mum like that, doubly so when she becomes a celebrity. Thankfully the two eldest moved into their own place (thanks to the cheque Godbotherer threw out like moneylenders from the temple) but that little girl is stuck there, she got dance classes. I hope her dad is as nice as he seems.

Don't we have the Miserable Thread for this?

Poor you, Monk, and poor little Monk. I'm so glad everything's alright, I can only imagine the pure blinding horror of that experience, and I hope to God the Bosun never ends up in a fucking metal cage with wires sticking in his arms. We were freaked out enough when he had diahorrea(sp?) the other week, I can't imagine how you've coped.

Miserable is different to sad tho.

You can feel miserable but not sad.

You can feel sad but not miserable.

My friend's cat just died and I'm very sad about it and shed a few tears, but it hasn't made me miserable.

I feel miserable about failing uni after my parents payed so much, but i'm not really that sad about it. I feel quite liberated in fact. Miserable but liberated.

Miserable is probably somewhere inbetween sad and just plain depressed. I think.

Pete from Big Brother. Because I just feel stuff so intensely that the afflicted really upset me.

Ruffle his hair for us!

With pleasure! ;-)

I'm not sure how we did it either, TBH. Lots of extra hugs, I think.

And poor Bosun! Give his tummy a tickle for me (if he's up for it of course).

Bosun's fine now, so no need to worry.
