Hi, lately i'm surfing on shamanism texts and things like that. One of the things that amazes me is some kind of, say symbol, say experience that repeats itself on various texts: it's some kind of travel to the sun or something like that.

I've readed psychedelic experiences of people who catapult their /Consciouness/soul/imagination/perception/whatever to the interior of stars, nebulae and that kind of eerie experiences.

I've founded Sun dances in shaman Iindian contexts, or in texts refering to egipcian rituals. I've readed that the "Sun travel" is also an initiation in some buddhist sects.

So, does anybody know something about these kind of things?

You could try a guided visualization, pathworking, using the planetary kamea for the sun, working with the various spirits and intelligences of the sun disclosed in the Golden Dawn or older grimoire material like (I think) The Magus, or just your own methods. Start by going there in imagination and see what you see. Would love to hear what you come up with!

Anyway, i'm taking easy with all these thinks. Perhaps before doing nothing i'll train myself on chi-kung or some energetic work.

Castenanda has a technique for bathing the eyes in sunlight, it involves looking into the sun and rapidly blinking the eyes to catch the light, another method i use is on a very bright day, face the sun with the eyes closed and focus/meditate on the light entering through the lids.

I can see how pathworking the sun could add to a more sensory focus on the sun, but i would perhaps start with what you already have access to in abundance, sunlight itself and how your skin and eyes react to it, mediatate on the sensations and integrate them into a pathworking while having a brief sunbathing session for example.

Let the tan become symbolic of the inner state, as the outer self goldens, so does the inner self. Or some such nonsense my head is full of this morning.

Another focus might be the dilation and contraction of pupils, light that expands internally and light that contracts or becomes clouded by over thinking, too much light internal or external can blind, then the nessecity of shadow becomes apparent, but not too much to obscure the light totally.

Or perhaps focus on the moments of the day, for example meditate at sunset and sunrise and perhaps mid day as well, see how the various transisions of the sun and its light effect your mood and character, perhaps create an internal solar cycle that corresponds to the external effects of sunlight upon your person.

I have had some great flying-into-the-heart-of-the-sun visualisations, and use the memory of them to help stay warm when it's chilly.
The first fifteen seconds of the film 'contact' are a great view of receding from the Earth at high speed, try imagining that then turning around and facing the sun and diving into it. Then see where it takes you.

@ s3r3bro- lucid dreaming, guided visualisation, intense daydreaming, mild fasting and hallucinogens have all done the trick, I think the key is an evocative theme and a gripping but simple narrative. Like flying up into the sky and diving into the sun, simple but effective. Spirits in the sun? How could there not be?

Something else you mite like to take into consideration is the moon, there is alot of cultural pairings of sun and moon, it would possibly be healthy to approach both areas similtaneously rather than on seperate terms, try full moon, no moon, half and quater meditations.

In fact the perfect place to begin with alot of this is the hexagram ritual, another poster started a thread on this recently, its a great position to explore what it means to be the sun personified and explore the elements of the other planetary bodies as they circulate about you, how the various characteristics of the planets rotate around the sun and why the sun is of central focus for physical as well as mental, emotional spiritual reasons at that positioning in consciousness.

So if you could perhaps manage it explore how personality types are drawn to those who typify the sun, but also look at those who typify the moon a different series of relationships becomes apparent, and what relationships can be formed by being venutian etc. Rather than perhaps being ceremonius in expression apply it to daliy life and personify planetary relationships in day to day interaction.

From my own view point i have noticed strong male and female sun figures who draw others who present as planetary bodies(sounds weird i know) to them and act as focal points, they are the shining guiding lights, both strong and fierce and calm and gentle in appropriate circumstance. Everything revolves around them, but without consciousness of the fact, its just a function.(accept for the annoying egocentric ones)

Try assuming your idea of the sun, i find it really difficult and tend to still be drawn to these solar males and females, my favourite planets when being a complete space monkey are in order of preference, mercury,luna,saturn,mars,venus and the earth, not so keen on jupiter, lots of father issues going on. Not sure where to place neptune and pluto got to be honest, not to keen on sun worship either in all honesty. But it has to be tried i think eventually to give a broader perspective.

Aside from the meanderings of personal preference, it really is worth looking at the relationships of planetary bodies, and makes a good system for self analysis and magicky widgets.

Also allows for a system of magic based on social circulation and social centres.

I see them as the people surrounding you, how they gravitate and circulate to you and others. Can you hold centre like the sun, or are you in rotation around another, an aspiration to be the light you percieve in somebody else.

I dont strictly use astrology, but use it as a working basis to help relate in social and personal relationships.

So these entities would be your friends and family, cosmic and solar radiating, hopefully without ozone depletion.

The attributions arent strict definitions, but guide lines, in a sense a very simplified application of astrology, but more complex than oh your this because of your sun sign.
