Problem with Norton Utilities- Please help!

When I start up my computer, I get an alert from Norton which says "Access to Drive C denied," and so I can't use Norton Disk Doctor to make repairs to my hard drive, only to scan it, which sort of defeats the purpose. Does anyone know why this might be happening? I'm sort of hopeless at this kind of thing.

If anybody can help, I'll buy the drinks if you're ever in my neck of the woods.

Because you can't use Norton on the drive you're booting from. It's like trying to do surgery on the leg you're standing on. Boot from the Norton Utilities CD.

That makes sense.

I'm still curious about why it gives me that dialogue every time I start up. It never used to.

When you start up your computer— I wasn't reading that carefully. I dunno. The dialogue at startup might be some other weird thing. Or else Norton is trying to repair the disk at startup, which would amaze me. But no matter what's going on with that, you can't repair the drive your computer is currently running the system from.

I figured it out- I set Norton to run a diagnostic at startup, and after that the dialogue didn't pop up again. Sweet.

Thanks for the help!
