Gift from vacation

While on vacation in Israel a few years ago, my grandmother bought me a gift. However, I do not know (remember) what it is supposed to be. Obviously a religious item, but beyond that I'm lost.

Below is an image of the gift. I'm looking for any info on what it is or just generally the symbols on it. Thanks.

I'm not familiar with the details, but it is, I guess, some sort of amulet from the Kabalah (I'm using the simplest spelling of the word - and of the concept). For protection or somethin'

Worry not, x. Soon, one of the big guys will step in and provide us kids with the correct details.

I've heard of that referred to as the Hand of Fatima (google images link) but I don't know much about it beyond that.

Well, I know what I'm going to be researching for the next hour!

Also known as a hamsa. Something I like about it is that it is a symbol used by Muslims, Jews, and certain sects of Christians, and you could even use it if you're a devotee of Tyr I suppose. Neat, huh?

I'm pretty sure this extensive of an introduction to the item wasn't given at the time of sale. Let it never be said that Barbelithers are anything but awesome.

I´ve looked that word in the palm up in my Liber 777 and it means "living".
