Metal Gear Solid 3

Well, I saw a thread about Metal Gear Solid 2, and I saw a thread about Metal Gear Solid 4...and I got to wondering about the numerical gap that goes between them, hencesoforth the creation of this thread, which is entirely devoted to the brilliant videogame masterpiece that is Metal Gear Solid 3.

I recently purchased the re-release of Metal Gear Solid 3, subtitled Subsistence. It is Snake Eater, but with a completely new optional camera angle, as well as a second disc, which carries on it the original MSX Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 games.

But that's not all, folks: The single coolest addition is the brand spanking new Metal Gear Online mode. Finally, we can play out Snake vs. Ocelot battles with friends and enemies from across the world.

This is my current favorite game. The single-player campaign is amazing. This convoluted and clever conspiracy sets up the entire mythology for the rest of the series.

I plan on writing a review for this game once I finish it, so I will link to that, when it comes about.

Now, I want to hear what other people think of this game. Talk about your single-player exploits; Boss Battle tips; Share Online stories of how you totally pwned n00bs; Your thoughts on the storyline...Anything and everything MGS3 goes here, people. So let's begin.

(And, for any potential spoilers, please give warnings. We don't want to turn some on to this game, only to have the ending ruined and sending them off to find some other, lesser game to put their time into).

Metal Gear thread.

I know the search function doesn't work brilliantly, but could we at least try to use it in this forum?

No, Oddman. Read the thread.

It maybe needs retitled, but it's a general MGS discussion thread. It covers 3 as well.

I did read the thread. This is covering mainly the re-release, Subsistence. I'll change the thread name to make this easier.

Now lets just talk about the damned game. It's wicked.

Or am I the only one who bought Subsistence?

No. Look, I'm sorry. I get that you're a bit embarrassed about having been caught out in yr laziness here but there is no fucking need whatsoever for a second thread on this subject. Changing your mind about the remit of this thread after the fact - somebody else must have had control of your fingers when you typed Anything and everything MGS3 goes here, people, because you'd clearly forgotten that you'd said it by the time you decided to submit that last post - isn't going to alter that.

Quite apart from anything else, it's bloody rude to the people who were already discussing the topic in the previous thread and extremely arrogant of you to appear from out of the blue and start up a a whole new one, ignoring everything that they've already said on the subject like it's totally irrelevant. There is, as I understand it, no significant difference whatsoever between the rerelease and the original version, bar the camera - itself already being discussed in that other thread.

In fact, half of that older thread is taken up with a discussion of this exact same game. Only, the people therre were doing more than list the contents of the disc from off the back of the box. If that's as deep as yr review's going to get, I wouldn't really bother linking to it.

Hey, Oddman, no worries, we've all started threads when one's already kicking about somewhere. Randy's made the points that need to be made about this issue. Let's just move onto the existing thread and carry on discussing MGS. Cool?
