So, this is Tom's Wikipedia page.

I mean, that's cool and all, but I think Barbelith can make it better. So, who has a wikipedia account? And what types of suggestions do people have to make Tom's entry sexier than Barry White's voice?

sexier than Barry White's voice

Well... no offense to Tom, but that's not the most flattering picture of him. I'm sure there's more handsome pics of the man.

As well, there's not enough references to Barbelith on that page. We need some sort of pithy and wry reference to either pirates, ninjas, badgers, or being "politically correct fascists!!!!111!!!"

Y'know, I'm not actually sure that we do need that. Looking at the page history, I see that some guy - I wonder who, eh viewers? - recently attempted to slip in a mention of Jack Denfeld being the king of barbelith. And got it edited back out again almost straightaway. What with it being a page about Tom Coates and all.

I suggest that we all leave the poor wikipedia entry alone and go and watch the Manchester Passion on BBC2.

Tom, don't take this the wrong way, but that photo has reminded me how much older we've all become.

Christ, I was twenty two or twenty three the first time I looked at the Nexus. Now I'm 30.

Just don't go there, Boboss. I joined Barbelith at 29... I'll be 35 by Christmas. It's all wrong, I tell you.

(Sorry... just come from playing WoW where everyone's a godzillion years younger than me and all got really censurious when I said I had to go buy cigarettes- "how old r u? Smoking for 17 years? That can't b gd fr u!")

On second thought don't watch it. So far it sucks.

Having just watched a little of the Manchester Passion, it occurs to me that perhaps it would have been bearable viewing had they chosen someone more charismatic and likeable than Keith Allen to do the 'links' - for example, a chimpanzee who was also a convicted pederast.

Sorry, back to Tom.

Hang on- Keith Allen's in it?

Why on earth did anyone think it would be worth watching in the first place?

I swear to God and on Mark Gruenwald's soul that wasn't me. I'm pretty sure I know who it was because they sent me a link to it, and when reading it I immediately thought "Oh no, they're all gonna think I did that". I promise that wasn't me, but I ain't no snitch, so I won't be giving up the guilty party.

That way we seem less serious.

I'm not really interested in who did it, that probably sounded more snarky and accusatory than I ever meant it to. I think I just wanted something to use as an excuse to call everyone 'viewers,' and this thing was closest to hand. Or something. It's all entirely the fault of Mordant's Smash Hits thread, anyway.

Qalyn, I don't believe you. Only the other week you were telling people off for using out-of-date Denfeld jokes.

I was telling everyone off for using the same moronic joke, over and over again, till I was sicking of looking at it. Putting Jack Denfeld = King grafitti up on Tom's wikipedia page was something entirely unrelated, something I felt I had to do. You'll notice I didn't go back and do it again.

This Steve Block, I don't know who he is, but he's going on the List. He also deleted my separate Jack Denfeld page, the vile fellow.

At the risk of stating the obvious, you don't need a wikipedia account to fiddle with Tom's page. Just hit the edit button and do yer stuff.

Oh dear God. I've just noticed this thread. What's up with you people!

Flattered as I am, I keep thinking someone will get around to deleting that page, and probably with good reason. What would be a better way for people on the board to contribute to Wikipedia would be to fix some of the articles around theoretical and Head Shoppy areas - particularly those of you with particularly focused knowledge in one area or another. I'd love it if Barbelith took on some Wikipediarish projects, whether that mean adding in information around Grant and Seven Soldiers, or BSG or Chaos Magick or Deconstruction or Judith Butler.

Actually, if any Latin or Greek translators want to clarify some stuff on the Apocrypha page, I'd be happy, too.

I, uh, spent a *lot* of time with parentheses on that page.
