29/04/06 - London - From an email I received: Just to let you know that we've got Sarah Waters, lesbian literature figure extraordinaire, coming down to Sh! on Saturday April 29th at 2pm to do some book signings and meet her fans. We thought you might like to know and if you could spread the word to all your friends who might like to meet her as well, that would be absolutely fabulous.

She'll be coming down to sign copies of her new book The Night Watch, and two of her previous titles, Fingersmith and Tipping The Velvet, and if any girls have got their own copies of the books, I'm sure she'd be totally stoked to sign those as well. We think it'll be an absolutely fabulous event that every lesbian in London would love to attend so we're just spreading the word around all the different bars, cafes and communities. If you could spread the message that would be great as we'd love to see as many women there as possible to make her feel really welcome at Sh!.

Sh! Women's Erotic Emporium
57 Hoxton Square, London N1

This was forwarded on from a lesbian email list, so I'm not sure whether the female-centric nature of the email is exclusive or whether any male fans would be able to go as well. Probably best to check with the store beforehand.

Sh! usually operates a women and men accompanied by women only policy, so yeah, it would be a good idea for any unaccompanied males to call ahead of time to check on the door policy...

Resurrectathread!

The below is something that a friend of a friend of mine is organising and would love people to come along to. Tara Books is an Indian publisher based in the UK and publishing books in English.

The most recent thing they published which you might have heard of was The London Jungle Book, a gorgeous coffee-table slab which imagined London through the eyes of an artist from the Gond tribe - trippy images of Big Ben as a rooster, the Tube as giant worms etc ...

Is the Emma lady's novel out yet? The name seems familiar ...

Dunno. I'm still seething at her disgustingly young age.

Ah, but she didn't take the precaution of building up a career to fall back on before launching into the perilous world of fiction! I mean, with only a couple of short stories to her credit, I doubt she's making a living off writing, frankly. Although Prospect *is* impressive.

Anyway, her youthfulness doesn't make a damn bit of difference if she's shit. If she's good though (and especially if she's fit) you can start getting worried.
