There's a Shadowhawk action figure coming out this year. Many years after he was briefly popular, this will be judged by most as a pointless waste of plastic. I, in contrast, think this is incredible news.

Think about it. What does Shadowhawk do? He snaps spines. And how easy is it to rotate the waists and necks of your other superhero figures 180 degrees, making it look like their spines have been snapped? Very easy indeed.

You can begin with him on one end of your display shelf and spent a wonderfully enjoyable evening working him along, snap-snap-snap, leaving behind him a colourful pile of super-quadriplegia moaning for mercy. And that's what Image was all about.

Image has changed the comics industry by eventually moving to the business practices of....Pacific, Eclipse, AV and the other publishers of the 80's after a brief period where they acted like DC in the 30's, putting out tons of crap through work-for-hire studios. In a lot of ways, they are like Dark Horse without the Movie and TV tie-in titles.

They are just now learning that to exist in the current market comes from having a huge back catalog. I am buying more Image than ever, but it's never because it's from Image...it's because I already know the creators from previous projects or because they are making the podcast rounds.
