I dunno, I feel like a bit of an idiot asking this but does anyone else think that the new Ant & Dec film, A(lie)n Autopsy has been designed to jsut, you know, crap all over everything and be really cynical and just rubbish?

I mean I want there to be real aliens, not two cheeky fucking chappies pissing on my dreams.

I'm sure it'll be as good as 'On The Buses - The Movie,' and that's really all anyone can expect, isn't it?

I'm sure Ant and Dec had great fun making it, though.

The real mystery is which is which. I mean, I actually saw a photo last week of just Ant (or it might have been just Dec) and underneath it said which it was, and I can't remember. It's almost like I've had my memory wiped.

Yeah, I know they always say Ant stands on the left- but is that our left or their left?

I saw them on tv the other night, and they were talking about the story behind the film, and it's supposed to be inspired by two people who actually made the tape in the first place, and Ant and Dec apparently met them. They even maintain that (the original makers of the footage) their footage was inspired by some other footage that they thought was the real thing. The original, original footage of an Alien abduction.

The only dodgy bit arrives when they said that the reel broke when they watched it, so they then had to make another version. There's supposed to be a chance that this could happen, with those types of reels decomposing after long amounts of time, but it does sound hard to believe obviously, and I have no clue about the chances of said types of reel actually decomposing and breaking whilst viewing them.

Not that I believe it, but it interested me a bit when I heard him talking about it. (only because it'll make it a little more interesting when I go to see it.) Maybe you'd be able to find something online about it aswell. I'm off to see it anyway, because my brother wants me to go with him. To be honest, the trailer has made me laugh a few times when I've seen it too, and I'm thinking that it might be quite funny. Hopefully it will be anyway.

Teh!!11 EnEMY CONSPIRACY! aside, this will be shit. Every inch of it reeks of 'cheeky' entertainment, with an embarassing roll-call of Brit 'celebrity' cameos.
Bunt.

i doubt you're qualified to make that statement.

seriously, i think it'll be good - i remember the windows of virgin megastore bristol being chocka block with the alien autopsy video when it come out - perfectly riding the crest of the 90s xfiles/ufo boom - people bought it by the ton, and i'd say that was a form of voluntary mass-delusion in the name of fun (though i'm not qualified to make that statement). i think it's a ripe moment of recent history to have a cheeky, chirpy , chimpy 'where we were then' movie made about it, casting an interesting contrast between today and the bouncy late-major/clinton era when (para)political inquiry was a happily commodified fringe pursuit and not an absolute social necessity.

and have you not seen 'celebrities in the jungle'? those tiny geordie cunts know how to deliver a line, they really do.

So basically A(lie)n Autopsy is going to be good because it'll remind us of the pre-Bush era?

I can't wait. Race you to the cinema!

you can run to the cinema if you like, if you look upstairs you'll see i've already stated i'll be waiting for the dvd.

you're being a right ring of bells about this: it's blatantly a perfectly good excuse for a frothy comedy/ cultural history snapshot, like 24hr party people with conspiracies (and, in all likelihood, a bit less good). what's wrong with that? other than some weird 'i only watch bbc4, who are these 'and and tec?' granddadisms?

Like 'Spice Girls: the movie' but with aliens.

I don't have BBC4, I know who Ant & Dec are and I know that the trailer to this film made it look fucking shite.

I'll watch it when it comes on telly. Maybe. If I have nothing better to do. Like be outdoors. With other people. Making sweet love.

Dudes. It might be like 24-Hour Party People, but not quite as good. Or it might be like Carry on Columbus. What it probably isn't is a weapon created by the Man to undermine those who believe, unless the Man is more desperate than I thought.

hang on, how's it going to be like carry on columbus? no boats or spaniards in the trailers i've seen.

BRILLIANT as this film is obviously going to be though, wouldn't it be just dreamy if it was sid'n'bernard instead of ant'n'dec? yuak yuak yuak.

Zany low-budget British comedy. Lots of cameos from currently hot comics. Absence of Jim Dale admittedly a problem.

I used to have a crush on Dec of Ant and Dec fame (or, as he was then, Duncan of PJ and Duncan fame). It was an odd twelve year old crush that involved staring really really hard at his picture in magazines for half hours at a time and then ripping his picture out of the magazine and systematically defacing and destroying it.

It is therefore my informed opinion that the film will be okay but not great.

Gumbitch has always has a thing for the two geordie pranksters- way back when they were simply known as PJ and Duncan I remember him trying to play me their singles 'Ready to Rumble' and 'Stepping Stone'- a superior version to the monkees he'd have us believe.

that's 'Rhumble', shit-for-brains. i bet they could tell the difference between a wigwam and a teepee anyhow. for the record, it was macready who went the whole pig and bought their album - not their first album, no, but the follow-up. i don't think i had more than a couple of cassingles.

more of da man's conspiracy to fuck with the truth here.

What's the difference, Ganesh? I'm thinking of accusing my sister of being one of them, after she wrote me a letter telling me how she can tell that I used to be much more contented with my life back when I was having regular panic attacks, and would like to get it right.
