I've got an Ixus 750 which is fantastic.

Lovely quality pictures, a nice big display and some stonking little features

Except you asked for digital video cameras - Whoops, sorry!

It's a nice camera anyhow

Perfect timing with the Specs query. I have had the same pair for about 6 years. Now that they fall off my face witht he slightest moement, I have been convinced to replace them(and get an eyetest).

Can anyone tell me how it is possible to have contact lenses that correct for distance and reading at the same time? It doesn't seem possible.

You can get bifocal contacts. Weird idea but apparently they work - the middle bit is for distance and the edges are for close up work.

I can't stand the idea of contacts. Dunno. Just seems like a denial of the fact that you wear glasses. Not that I'm being snarky at anyone, just always felt funny about the lens...

If they move with your eye (cos they are attached to it)how can you choose to look out of a particular bit of a contact lens - I'm still a bit suspicious, that's all.

I know exactly what you mean about the glasses denial thing, Legba, but I quite like the idea of having contacts to correct my short-sightedness, and then wearing glasses for reading.
So I can wear then on the end of my nose like a librarian, say, or yep! ...Beast from NEW X-MEN!

Plus, glasses (where the lenses are 2-3 cm) from my eyes always make me feel slightly drunk. And I could still wear a pair of purely-cosmetic specs.

Specs are indeed sexy!

Well - initially, when I was 16, contacts very much WERE a denial that I wore glasses! They were fabulous, a lifesaver for shy wee me.

Now I wear them about 2/3 of the time - contacts are much better than glasses when running or cycling - or try doing yoga with glasses on.

And no, I don't really 'get' how the bifocals work, I've only heard about them.
