We Need Wine!

Ok, here's the situation. I have the cold from hell and all the pills I've stuffed down my gullet aren't doing anything. The only thing that's perked me up is the wine we've just finished.

I'm too sick to drag myself to the shop. Ariadne refuses to go out in the rain because she is on the verge of having a cold, though she hasn't succumbed fully yet.

We need a volunteer. Surely some nice barbeloid out there will go for us? It's not far and the rain is easing off.

Let's see a show of hands.

I'll go if you share it with me.

I've got wine. Wine from the Puligia region. Wine and Goldfrapp. And Sambuca.

If she's going to get a cold she might as well get it over with. Get thee to the offy!

Of course I'll share! Well a little. Better bring a couple of bottles Lula, just in case.

Although Sambucca could be just the thing for a sore throat. That's a good idea right there. Why don't we have any of that in the cupboard? Perhaps we'll have to switch to whisky.

Whiskey with a little hot water and honey is golden on a sore throat. You could add ginger or cloves if you've got any.

If you're got whiskey then you should get Stone's Green Ginger wine and make Whiskey Macs. Just the thing for a cold.

Green ginger wine eh? Whisky macs eh? How do you make them?

I've only ever had green ginger wine with beer. Open a bottle of lager, take a big sip, then top up with a slug of green giner wine. Yummo. I can't quite picture what it would taste like with whisky.

Whisk(e)y Macs are great - even if they're pretty sweet though. The only way to find out is to make one.

This is just the sort of situation I had in mind when I proposed wine taps in every British household. Imagine having four taps at the kitchen sink: hot, cold, red, white. Big pipeline in the English Channel, bringing the stuff in from Europe. Dawning of a new golden age.

Those boxes are okay, just for proving that wine coming out of a tap can work, but they don’t last very long. Domestic mains supply is the way to go. You should write to your MP, Loomis. Demand action.

(Although, yeah, whisky is prob. better for a cold. Get well soon, both of you.)

A friend once told me that coke had done research into how viable it would be to have coke on tap in households. Apparantly.

hot, cold, red, white

Mulled wine on tap! Yeah!

This is a very good idea - I can see it happening eventually. It was weird going to a part of the USA where there really is mineral water on tap though. How widespread is this in Americy, anyway? Anyone know?

We have wine!

The shop's only about 50 steps away - a joint effort, sneezing all the way through the pouring rain, and we have vino. Yum.

Have you got a corkscrew? Or were they screw-top wine bottles you got?

'Cos otherwise, you might have to go out in the rain to the offy again...

Can you believe Ariadne made me go to the shop in my condition? You know, when I first met her I thought she was really nice.

Ariadne

ha - we have zillions of corkscrews. We're a well-established drinking house.

Wise are those who know where their corkscrews reside on a dark windy night of rain and murk.

Ah, this would be a cold that means you use about a zillion hankies every day? Sorry, you must have picked that up from me last week.

Hah! Audacious! Sorry guys, I only read your post that little bit too late, or I would have went. Anything to escape the crippling depression of another Saturday night home alone feeling worthless. What am I thinking? You're never alone with a broken heart and a drinking problem! That and I seem to have missed cube's cold - result!

Ah, but do you have Grant Burge in your house, Loomis? You certainly should.
