Channelling.

I'm working on a thread in a non-magickal board, with regards channelling and I would be most grateful for input. The thread is a discussion over whether it is 'real' or 'works', so I have posted that I am interested in experiemntling with it. I understand that the main bone of contention is the channelling of dead famous folk, which is an area I have no experience of, but I am interested in going into. I have been working with a medium foir the last few years and have had much communication with spirit, but have never truly tranced out and let them take over.

So my line of inquiry is;
what are people's understanding of channelling?
what experience have others had?
what techniques or methods would you suggest to be able to channel a famous dead bod?

I don't know about channelling people... I wouldn't want to. Be too scared they'd know how to use my body in ways I wouldn't like them too.

I channell my quasi-servitor every once in a while though. It's sort of a mixture of gnostic feeling and dialing on a cell phone. It's difficult to describe otherwise... but I much prefer it to people, because my quasi-servitor doesn't care much for my body, and thus only plays with my mind (especially my endocrine system and the language portions of my brain).

If you want to chanell fameous people, start by feeling out people in general. What makes them different, unique, accessable. Start with people who are close to you, and move further and further away until you make the jump to dead people and then dead people you've never met.
And give in. It's the only way. Scary, but true (to the best of my knowledge).

Only advice I can give... as said.
People scare me. They're too unpredictable. And being in my head would probably hurt some of them.

Just talking about this elsewhere today -

My sister lived at a resort in Thailand for a while, and was making extra money copyediting for this Canadian woman who was writing a book on alternative therapies, including rei ki.
So, along with cash money, my sister got the rei ki training/alignment as part of the deal.

During the alignment, suddenly, this woman (who didn't know my sister very well) said, "Oh, there's a spirit here who's very funny. She knows you."
And goes on, laughing, to say the spirit's name was "Phyllis" or "Phylma" and had a great sense of humor, da da da.
Well, our grandmother's name was Phyllis, but she hated that name ("It sounds like "SYPH-ilis," she'd say) so she went by Phylma.
My sister, as I understand it, was lying down and not offering much information - this wasn't a "cold reading" by any means, and wasn't even supposed to be a channeling exercise.
My grandmother's big message from beyond: "Tell your father he needs to lose weight. He's getting a bit heavy, isn't he."

Typical.

....eh....

Can anybody post up information on how Phillip was made/created? I'm too lazy to track down the book and too cheap to buy it.
