Decent cinema webzines / blogs...

I'm possibly just pissing into the wind here, but I've been trying to track down some online sources of decent (or at least interesting) film writing that at least vaguely suits my own cinematic interests...

Reason being that firstly, I'd quite like to read them and, secondly, I write about films quite a bit on my weblog and would like to throw in some good links to similar stuff, or at least keep up with the 'competition'.

Ideally, I'm searching for stuff that's NOT either a)hollywood bullshit, over-excited promotional crap or similar "industry talk" or b)entirely high-minded analytical Film Studies fare, but that still features good writing and stuff. And if it happens to concentrate more on weird/cultish kinda cinema, well all the better.

This stuff must be out there somewhere, but compared to the vast number of quality music sites and blogs, the cinematic equivalent all sems very, um, low-key.

Any suggestions?

Even though this might fall under the second category, sometimes it's actually quite funny:
Metaphilm. (Even the title is a little pretentious)
There are quite a few example of really high-minded analytical stuff, there are also some funny essays. Including an essay that theorizes that "Jack" and Tyler Durden are actually "Calvin" and "Hobbes" from the comic strip. Hilarious.

This link falls under the aforementioned "entirely high-minded analytical Film Studies fare" category but nevertheless Senses of Cinema is definitely worth a look.

Well Metaphilm is pretty interesting stuff - thanks.

Any advance on that, or shall we put this one down as 'pissing in the wind'?

i used to write for PopMatters, but i can't entirely recommend them... sometimes the writing is good (look for todd ramlow) and sometimes not so good, but it's worth a look.

the GreenCine Daily Blog is really handy and points you to a lot of interesting current articles.
