So Richard Cheese is this lizard who does lounge covers of popular music. Originally, he was doing "alternative" songs but has since "branched out" into rap and R&B. He has a terrific voice and a great wardrobe of suits. He also has an amazing backing band: one of the finest pianists I've ever heard (full disclosure: I don't hear very much jazz or classical that uses the piano).
Is he doing a parody of the angst and depression of the alternative music. Or is he just doing some great music. There are a few songs where I like Cheese's version better. Example: Blink 182's "Feeling This" is much better with piano and baritone than annoying punk-whine. Dick's cover of "Beat It" has this weight of solemnity and seriousness that seems to fit the song better.
