The rather beautiful "Memorare & The Icon of Our Mother of Perpetual Help" of St. Bernard, which somewhat touched me at the weekend just passed. It's a beauty if you are beating yourself up over something that requires forgiveness, from you to you; or feel like having a really good cry over something you are unable to change but really wish to. It is a call to your own compassionate mercy, the highest aspect of psyche and consciousness which grants perdition, Virgem da Conceição, Mother of Humanity:
"I Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection,
implored your help
or sought your intercession
was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence,
I fly unto you,
O Virgin of virgins, my Mother.
To you do I come;
before you I stand,
sinful and sorrowful.
O mother of the Word Incarnate,
despise not my petitions,
but in your infinite mercy,
hear and answer me.
Amen." |
