I reckon we'll do okay without him.

That said, Stepjan Mesic feels his country has been robbed of justice. I'm pretty sure Milosevic was the first head of state to be prosecuted by the UN for war crimes, too.

Also he was famously in poor health, but is it just coincidence that this comes within days of the suicide of Milan Babic?

Hey, that's why God invented Hell (supposedly, at least)

I read on Wikipedia that he had a history of heart problems and lower-than-normal health. What can one say other than good riddance? Goodbye, Milosevic; I'm sad that you were not convicted (was he?) of anything.

Latest is that there were traces of a TB medicine in his blood. Apparently this was found during an earlier investigation, as to why his heart medicine didn't give the expected results.

Current belief is that he took this medicine to deteriorate his own condition, hoping that he would be released to Moscow for reasons of his poor health.

Still, a big blow for the international court, as it would have been the first time a former head of state would be tried in this manner.

He's the second accused war criminal to die in custody. To lose one is troubling; to lose two...

Well, Babic at least was actually convicted under a plea bargain...

it is a pity the hague never got to test the legislation in place to try a leader.

but it is no pity the world is rid of such a beast.

i only hope it was just his own poor health that did for him, and there is no scandal - it would be a travesty to the memory of those innocents slaughtered at his whims.
