This seems familiar.

Pretty ain't it?

I bet it's just sketches and model sheets for a game.

Wow what beautiful visuals. Reminds me of City of Lost Children....

So is it a game then? Cos it seems like a moofie.

Reminds me of a more whimsical version of China Mielville's New Crobuzon.

Unsure where its from, but the art's purdy.

It looks like the link is some dude's art portfolio. I found a cool little dancebot picture there too!

It looks like the guy's name is Chris Appelhans, and I'm not finding too much on him using web searches. Looks like he did some work on Knights of the Old Republic 2 video game.

There's also a cool little Superman animated thing he did which you can get to from the link in the first post.

There is a game forthcoming based on American McGee's (pretty steampunk; pretty & steampunk) "Alice" game -- with Buffy in the lead role I believe.

Also, Marilyn Manson is doing some kind of spin-off.

So maybe these are production sketches towards the former?

As a sidenote. Three key texts of steampunk or semi-steampunk make in-jokes, or cross-references or are in some way indebted to "Alice": Moore's League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Pullman's His Dark Materials and Mieville's Bas-Lag books.

I even thought it would be possible for someone to research a chapter on this -- I was half-involved in arranging a steampunk conference a couple of years ago, but it never came off.

The seed idea is still there to be nurtured, I think.

This looks good. Modern re-working and all that.

Didn't Jeff Noon do something similar with his Automated Alice?
