I guess there are no Barbeloids in Essex...oh well. and It's alittle far for Londoners to travel on a weeknight. Though His Stoatieness has said that he might come along...anyone else?

I believe this notion is being toyed with by changes monthly brigade, myself and a couple of other people (Stoatie chief amongst them) but we need to overcome our innate fear of Essex and master the complexity of transport.

So, maybe.

I have been to Essex, and returned alive, though changed ... strangely.

I am not sure if I will be able to come to this show, though I know Lilly Nowhere is considering options.

I grew up in Essex. I speak the language and everything. Just stick close to me, you'll all be fine.

Now then, where's Chelmsford's one decent pub ... ?

Right, I think we're going. Trying to convince a friend who is skint, however, so was wondering if there is any cover charge. I mean, we're going to Chelmsford on a Wednesday night...

The club chargea a whopping £6 to get in! But we told the promoters to give £2 off to anyone coming from London, so just show your ticket at the door. We aren't supposed to have any guest list places, but I'll see what I can Do when I get there...

Are you guys gonna take the train with us? or meet us there?

We are meeting at Shenfield station at 7.30pm and then doing the one more stop to Chelmsford together, which means I'll be getting the 7.10pm train from Stratford - I assume this leaves Liverpool Street about 7pm. Stoatie has not yet confirmed his travel plans.

We will seek the £2 discount you have so cleverly negotiated on behalf of Londoners - you don't think it's just a clever plan to identify us and give us a good kicking, do you?

Stoatie and I are looking at the 7pm train - I just have to be certain I'm coming, which depends on childcare for the evening. Lilly is being kind enough to work on this as I type.

Yay! Thanks LN - I get to go East for the Bride this time. By my reckoning this means we both get to go to the 1st April gig.

Aww, I'm all excited now! I mean, not in a perpendicular way or anything, but ... I'm just looking forward to the gig.

crappity. I have friends in Chelmsford, but I haven't been on here for a month so I didn't get around to letting them know about it. Oops.

You missed a fun night, Anna. The club was really nice, well attended as well, especially for a Wednesday evening (in Chelmsford), and your new song sounded good. The vocals could have been louder if the sound engineer had made them so, and the sound went a little awry under that low ceiling anyhow - but it was a fun set and nice to see MB play outside N16, let alone London, for a change. UK tour here we come!. I'll put some pics on the Barbelith Flickr account soon too.

I don't recall ever going to a non-smoking venue before though (apart from that time Dead Can Dance insisted the whole Astoria be smoke free) and that was also pretty cool. Nice to wake up in the morning and find all my clothes didn't have a tobacco fragrance as an extra.
