Wasn't the Arthurball a few weeks ago? I know Grant was supposed to be there. Anyone?

Okay then, where's your summary? Where's some information on what the Arthur Ball actually is?

Sorry if you think I'm coming on a little strong, but I don't see why moderators should have to do all the work for you.

All I know is there's an event called "Arthruball" and that Grant was supposed to be there in a Q&A panel. That's it.

Hey mephisto, while you're here, I thought Big Mart was meant to be at Cupcakez last week, and though I turned up at 7.30, hung around 45 minutes at least, I couldn't see the guy. anywhere I mean what happened? You seem to be a guy who knows the party scene and stuff.

Sorry I can't answer your first Q, I don't know what Grant you mean?!

The Arthur Magazine people themselves—the ones who presented the actual event—seem to think it went okay.

If you need more information, why not ask them?

Sorry, I'm mistaken—that goes to an external blog: so it's Gardener Linn who thinks Arthurball was swell.

Trust Gardner Linn.

Know how long it took me to find? Ten seconds.

Google is your friend.

I read in the Grant Morrison myspace forum that Grant Morrison was talking about his (lack of) relationship Mark Millar. He also supposedly claimed he ghost wrote the first 5 issues of the ultimates!!

Whoa... do you have a link?

Forget it. Found it. You're right Jack, Google is my friend.
I highly doubt any of this though.

Well, it's consensus that Signor Morricone ghostwrote AUTHORITY #28. So it wouldn't be the first time.

And given that Millar and GM were still on friendly terms at the time ULTIMATES was being pitched (though I understand the've had a falling-out since), it's not outside the realm of possibility. I'm sure they discussed the work in progress, and it's quite possible that, at a minimum, Millar incorporated some of Morrison's suggestions and perspectives into the pitch. That may be enough to constitute ghost-writing, in GM's view.

What's interesting to me is that the claim is never made that any of GM's work is ghostwritten by Mark Millar. Which suggests to me that while Grant may love to talk, he's not much of a listener.

Or that he knows to whom not to listen.

Imagine it, smiling and nodding, moving the pen in your hand with the nib just a few milimetres above the page... "Aye, Mark, that's a great idea... I'm writing it all down..."

wrt what's the horses' mouths have said, Millar did apparently come up with the (somewhat) pointless bit at the end of JLA: Earth-2, with the cat. Morrison, an irate Millar said after the former had mentioned it in interview, came up with the end of Red Son, albeit ripped from the pages of Busiek's Astro City; Samaritan, mebbe?

He has admitted to Au #28 being Grant's and also, iirc, the general concept behind Ulti Thor.

George and Millar also got snuggly with a four-issue arc of Swamp Thing some time ago, didn't they, before George let Marky-Mark fly free and wild on his own.

Aye, they did quite a lot around that time; nine issues of Flash, followed by three with just Millar (which I bin told, Morrison plotted; dunno why the no credit?) and ten of Aztek, aka Curt Falconer. I think there's some speculation about Millar's latter Swampy's too, probably.

I suppose GM's biography would clarify all that - or most of it - but it still hasn't seen the light of day. the rumour about his contributions to AUTHORITY #28 and ULTIMATES' characters and first arc [probably more compressed than the published version] have been floating for a while.

remember that at a time GM was set to write ULTIMATE FF [and MARVEL BOY 2], if not for the fallout with Bill Jemas, so it's quite possible he was preparing to shape that corner of U Marvel along with Millar.

is the Myspace forum worth googling? funny nobody's mentioned the bit of Unknown Superman's identity... =)

http://groups.myspace.com/grantmorrison is the address. I think you should be able to get in without being a myspace member. It's certainly fine but nothing much ever happens within the group.

Huh say what? Unknown Superman has an identity? Isn't that... wrong?
