It's well known that most of the music Warren Ellis pushes is the piddle of the music spaniel, but thanks to him I've got into Fonal records and The Es. On receiving Kaikkeuden kauneus ja käsittämättömyys I also got a free sampler for the label. I don't need to YouSendIt any of this, there's samples everywhere. Has anyone else sampled Fonal's stock, or can they recommend other stuff from Finland?

While I do listen to a bit of music from Finland and environs, I lean more towards the neotraditionalist end of things, and I'm not sure what it shares with Fonal's stuff besides a mother tongue.

It seems strange, in this day and age, to be speaking of a national music, doesn't it? "Finnish music," like "English music" or "American music," is a broad church.

Värttinä : The ES :: Fairport Convention : Massive Attack, or something.
