as the movie is still two years away [yeah, it's happenin], this very cute live action version of the cartoon intro is not - I believe - a teaser or anything.

anybody knows if it's a fan film or one of the many intros of the show? google and wikipedia gave me nothing.

Seems to be saying that BSkyB made it as an advert - makes sense, some of the computer work on it's too good to be a mere fan work. It's also all British cars and stuff. Pretty neat, though.

Duuuuude. This rocks. Not sure what it is, but its damn funny.

It really IS too well set up, though, to be a fan piece, unless said fans had a pretty decent budget, becuase the setup and the action is pretty well done.

It's a promo for the SkyOne launch of the Simpsons:

Matt Groening has approved the human version of the show’s opening credits to promote the brand new series which Sky One will continue broadcasting on March 20th. "We used regular actors, not so much for their resemblance - as you can't copy a bunch of yellow characters - but becuase you can easily identify with them."

From IMDB:
'Fox Steals From Itself
While other networks have been firing off legal notices to the video website YouTube.com demanding that they remove content from their programming, Fox on Friday uploaded a live version of the opening title sequence of The Simpsons to the site, in which human characters mimic the actions of the animated ones. The Los Angeles Times blog "Channel Island" reported that the clip was produced by the U.K. ad agency Devilfish and was designed to promote the upcoming 17th season of the series on Sky One, Fox's corporate sibling in Britain. The clip was quickly picked up by other websites, becoming what a studio spokeswoman described as "a viral campaign," adding, "It's amazing how quickly it went around the world." '

Funnily enough, my newspaper's got a feature in today on this because Lisa is played by a girl from Bradford.
