Learning to Fly

[In the spirit of Pink Floyd day:]

Have you? Do you? What do you do to fly? Drugs, meditation, booze, spinning in circles 'till diZzy, dreaming, or a real honest to god descendent of that Wright Bros. contraption? Or is it some-thing com-plete-ly different?

I'm talking about flyin', son. That's what I mean. How do you "fly"?

Maybe not quite what you meant, but I just recently became adept at flying in my dreams. Throughout some 20 years of flying dreams I can remember, I would always "lose an engine" or something and spin out into a tree or worse (don't ever let anyone tell you it's impossible to die in your dreams, I've had several fatal landings)

About a month ago, this changed. It clicked somehow during a lucid moment and I took off. Still use a web/net occasionally, but Im happy about it.

mod, this is just getting silly.
I really want to learn to fly. Really fly. I've a bit of a fear of heights, but I think if I was in control of a plane that would be sublimated by all sorts of other fears .

Recently started trying to achieve flight with recreational pharmaceuticals, higher consciousness and all that, but the infrequency of my experiments means I've no conclusions yet.

Zoom.

i get more of an altered consciousness from cinema and (comic) books, ideally combined with music, than I ever have from drugs

i was very disappointed with acid. All it did was fuck with my depth perception and make me paranoid. I never saw anything that wasn't there, and I behaved like a prick.

I jumped out of a perfectly good plane once. That was fun, and not really like falling out of the sky at all...

I fly all the time in my dreams. Its all about not needing your feet to touch the ground, and this groovy cross-legged sitting position. Not Superman flying, more Buddha meditation flying...

Cool. As a kid, all my flying dreams were as if I were a kite. I'd stretch out my arms in a "Jesus X pose" and then drift gently upwards and backwards from the ground.

Since my "adulthood," when I fly in dreams it's full out zippin' around (perhaps like Neo at the end of the Matrix--which, btw, I felt ruined that whole kick ass movie. I love that show except for the last ten seconds: he shoulda' hung up that phone <slam> cut to black.). If I fly in a dream, then it is typically a lucid or semi-lucid dream.

i throw myself at the ground and miss.

when I have flying dreams - my favorite - i actually have to flap my arms and waggle my feet to keep propulsion up....
