Introductions

Hey everyone! Just got an email from Tom Coates today saying I've just been accepted to Barbelith and WOW, that was like the biggest news of my day. I've been browsing Barbelith for almost 3 years now and it's been one of my favorite sites to visit for intelligent, thought-provoking forums full of topics that I just love, so I'm ecstatic at being accepted as a member.

So now, following Tom's suggestion, I'm starting an Introductions thread for people like me who've just landed in the community. Introduce yourselves, explain who you are and why you're here, show links to where your dominant online presence is based, chat with exisitng members and whatever.

Hopefully we all recieve a warm welcome.

As for my introduction, my name's Andrew Drilon. I'm 20 years old from the Philippines, currently studying Creative Writing at our University. I'm a huge Grant Morrison fan and a generally well-versed comic geek. I'm an artist and a writer--got published for a few comics that I wrote and drew myself here in the Phils, also a few short stories and poems. I'm heavily into music, used to have a band back in high school, wrote songs, sang, but I'm (sadly) useless with musical instruments. I also paint and dabble in Le Parkour/Parkoubo.

What else--I practice Chaos Magic/Pop Magic to the best of my interpretation of it. Developing my own style as we speak, and I particularly love the "Temple" section of this site because I get a lot of good input on the general topic of magic.

So far, that's it. Generally, I do most of my online writing at my Livejournal, Building Superior Toys, and I post my creative work on my blogger site, The Brassbuddha Machine. Check 'em out if you like.

Um, so there. If you guys have any questions or whatever, just comment or send me messages and I'll be happy to answer. Mabuhay Barbelith.com! Lux Et Voluptas!

Yeah, but...

I mean, what about...

But wouldn't you rather...

That's O.K.

Jack needs his exercise, and you provided it. It's like a public service you did.

For the record, I'm not Grant Morrison, I'm grant balfour.

Different grant.

Yeah, I fell for that mistake once. Very disapointing, I might add

Well, welcome new(er) guys and girls. And here's a piece of advice: Think before you post. Think, damn it.

Whoa, grant, I think I popped a neuron before I even got to sentence three. I thought--I thought--I almost-- 0_0 *whoa* My head would not have been able to take that so fast.

Hi all--Jack, grant, Megatron, Phieu! Sorry for the initial blip in brainpower. I hear you. Thanks for the welcome words.

Hi all. I'm really glad you liked The Invisbles, but deep down don't you know that The Ultimates is superior?

You know.

Artistically.

Ahahahahahaha.

Hi all. I'm really glad you liked The Invisbles, but deep down don't you know that The Ultimates is superior?

Am suddenly extremely afraid.

Is this the hazing? Because on balance the asscandles would be less scary and more understandable.

Hello all, nice to be here.

If it's hazing, then it's probably Ultimates, not Invisibles. The latter's got a pretty well-wrought initiation. :P

Speaking of which, do we all get funky names in the Barbelith College like "Jack Frost" "Jenny Greenteeth" "John-a-Dreams" "Amos Quito" or whatever? Does someone christen you or do you summon up an inner demon to tell you your secret name? :P

Something will catch your eye one day and BAM. Name.

Mine came from something Ibis the Invincible said, once, because I'm lame.

Just so's you all know, we don't talk about Grant Morrison any more round these parts.

We do, however, talk about his wunnerful wife.

Well, Haus does.

Rather obssessively, actually.

Joy Division Oven Gloves is the best name we've had here in ages. (There're a couple of HMHB threads knocking about if you feel like searching).

Found and found, thanks.

Glad you enjoyed the name. In recognition of the blatent thieving of Nigel Blackwell's intellectual property to make myself sound funny and clever, I have decided to donate £1 to help set up a Struggling Scouse Musicians pension fund everytime someone makes the connection. Now, if someone could just get it through to Paul McCartney that it doesn't matter how much tax he's paid, he doesn't qualify.

I stole my name from a glossy magazine that has since gone out of business so chances of them sueing me are now significantly smaller...

Listen, Sax. Some people like girls. You don't have to be so militant about it.

I think it may be genetic. Not really a choice, y'know.
