Draw Me, Design Me, Write Me

This is a shout out for help but also a place where other people can offer their services or ask an artistic favour.

I have written a play for which an essential prop is a Playstation game that doesn't (for legal/sue-able reasons) exist. This game needs a sexy colour cover which I am unable to produce because my graphic design skills are somewhat inferior to those of a blind baby monkey.

Could anyone out there design me a cover, one that I can download and print off and shove in a DVD box? In exchange I can offer the writing of press releases, advertising copy, birthday poems and pretty much anything else word-related you can't (be arsed) to do yourself. Try me!

The brief: Demon Blade is a hero/quest game (based on Devil May Cry) for Playstation. The hero is half human and half demon, but basically a good, handsome, if slightly sinister chap. His weapon is the Flaming Sword and he probably wears a vaguely Goth/S&M "mediaeval prince" style costume. Background - go nuts, but lots of fiery hellishness would be good.

I thought maybe this could be a sort of art-bartering thread, whereby those who have mad skillz offer them in return for benefiting from the different but no less mad skillz of others working in another field.

I'd love to offer to do some design work, but I'm not much of an illustrator, so I'm not sure that's exactly the project I'm best suited for.

Maybe if someone wanted to collaborate with me on it? They could do the illustration, I'd do the design bit.

Writer if anyone needs it.

Background mostly in comics but I have done screenplays and I wrote some prose. Playing around with a short play too.

Main Influences: Grant Morrison, J. G. Ballard, Todd Solondz.

Samples available upon request.

I can be a pretty good critic and person to bounce ideas off of to try and help your project reach its full potential without actually telling you what to write and how to write it.

I have a background in English, History and Film.

My email is nolanjwerner@yahoo.com or you can PM me here.

OK, new challenge:

For reasons of me missing a crucial vote, the new UEA Anthology will have the somewhat crap title Tessellate (meaning to fit together in a regular, repeating pattern). To redeem the somewhat crapness of this title it is essential that we get a brilliant cover image that somehow reflects the meaning of the title.

Could any photographers on the board post suitable images in this thread so I can check them out? If we use your image you would get some cash (probably about fifty quid).

Cheers!

I'm not much of an illustrator or photographer unfortunately. This may be trite, but have you browsed any stock photo websites for a photo that conveys your message?

Painter, comics maker, but weird paintings and weird comics, so if you need illustration in a traditional sense, you may look elsewhere. Think visual poetry.
Also, poetry, prose and music.
Email or msg me for more info, etc.

It seems marketable, these days.

I can write, but so can anyone, I'd imagine. I specialise in parenthetical thoughtstreams, but only by accident, because I tend to end up writing almost exactly as I talk. Sometimes I think I'm funny.

That said, I don't think anyone would be interested in my writing services. But! I can do computor things. All sorts of computer things. Probably you'd be better off elsewhere for traditional computer design things, though I can do logos and stuff if need be, but I'm your go-to-guy for abstract recursively generated structures which may or may not have an implicit representation of some useful dataset. And pretty, too!

I like to represent things in different forms, it's a hobby of mine. If you need to turn one kind of information (say, text) into another kind of information (say sound, image, other), I'm available for parties, weddings and birthdays (and large corporations).

That's probably a useless skillset, really, but I'm putting it up here just on the off-chance that someone thinks, one day "Man! I really wish I could hear what my finances were like!" (this might turn you into a character from a Douglas Adams book, though, so please choose carefully).

I for one would love to see my VAT receipts expressed through the medium of interpretative dance. It could be a new art form!

I immediately wanted to start making something which turned strings of numbers into sequences of tai-chi moves (where there's not just a 1:1 number:form relationship, but larger groups of numbers are reflected in the forms and the transitions between them).

But I think I'll pass on that one, for the time being, because I'm a bit worried about my mind.

I think that sounds quite cool, actually. Very chaos theory. I think.

OK, here's a challenge:

Can someone do me a image for a poster (colour, A4) that involves:

a) a toy or puppet crocodile in an SS uniform
b) somebody tied to a chair with tinsel and/or Christmas lights.

By Thursday 9th November if poss.

You will be paid lavishly in love and respect, (or stories, scripts and press releases if you prefer)

Do you still need either of those items, Whiskey? I know it is a bit late, but if your love and respect is involved, I want in!

Let me know

We're good for the moment ... I think you answered the call for Xmas bondage over on the Homework thread anyway (and we also now have the most adorable Nazi crocodile).

Cheers though!

OK, anyone here a London-based theatre director? I've had a short play (40 minutes) accepted for a London-based one-act theatre festival and I need someone to direct it. (I almost certainly won't have the time, plus I prefer not to direct my own stuff).

No money involved, but it should look good on your CV - especially if you win Best Director or Best Production.

Reply in-thread for further details!

I repeat my appeal above.

Does anyone want to direct a 40-minute play of mine for a one-night performance at the King's Head Pub Theatre, Islington?

Etching designs onto silver with nitric acid. You paint the designs on with resist, or you use the process of photo-etching.

Anybody have an interest in illustrating postcard stories of various genres and weirdness levels? Preference would be of different styles if anyone thinks they might want some involvement.
