An Ode to the Chili Dog

To the tune of whatever:

"I sing the sweet song of the chili dog
Oh, what glorious taste it brings
It’s rich flavor brings me such joy
As no other taste can create

"I sing unto the inventor of the chili dog
Be they woman or man
For they have brought to me
Such sweet, sweet splendor

"I sing finally to my chili dog
Which ordered out for lunch
As its superb brilliance is finally gobbled up
In my eagerly awaiting mouth"

Hurray for chili dogs! God, I haven't had one in FOREVER.

...now I want want.

But, alas, I have split pea and ham soup defrosting for my lunch.

...but now I really want a chili dog.

I suspect chilli dogs (sp?) are one of my favourite foodstuffs despite the fact that I have yet to actually try one.

What goes into 'em? I want to try knocking up a British version.

Hotdog+bun+chili on top=chili dog. Add cheese, onions, relish, or salsa if you like. The chilidog that inspired this particular thread was named George, and he was on a poppyseed bun with cheese and chili. He was delicious.

Boboss, its the transition of the hotdog into a jacket potato. Its a hotdog+toppings rather than potato+toppings. Because all North American dishes must begin with a base of processed meat.

I generally just use the chili as a garnish and sauce. Onions might be nice, but a nice meaty chili that already has lots of veggies in it as well (such as the kind my family makes) really doesn't require any additional toppings.
