Really? You know 'bout magic? Can you tell me how to pull a live rabbit from a hat? I've tried a few times, but everyime I did the rabbit was dead. I think it got suffocated by all the scarves.

You guys are sooo lucky...in Canada the rabbits are too fast to catch,so we use a hare and when we cant use a hare we have to use moose. Hare/Moose if you will.
You ever try to stuff a moose in a top hat???
Its not as fun as it sounds.

Anyone wanna chat about magick...and in a magick forum no less...some days it doesnt make sense to get out of bed.

I think My confusion has goten clearly defined.

Is there REALLY a difference between using magic and Magick? Or is ti an snobism from magickians (starting from the biggest snob of them all, the Beast Crowley) (God, I love that Nickname).
(Hope this doesn't come across as agressive)
An MrI, What do you know about magic? Why do you start threads and then levae them?
Are you making a socio-anthopological study? Or casting a Hypersigil?
Im on to you...

hmmmmm poor mr insensitive. he's automatically assumed to be trolling even when he isn't. or is he?

well lets talk about magick. i used to do it a lot when i was younger, but i think it was one of the contributing factors to a bout of mental unstability which almost got me flunked out of high school. dangerous stuff. i'm getting into it again as i think i know what the dangers are now.

what's you experience with magick? what are those few things you know?

As this seems to be a thread for asking questions about other people's experiences:

Odd Jest - what would you consider the dangers of practising magick?

Mr I - what is the informtion you would like to share with the rest of us regarding your knowledge on magick? It being a fairly open ended question, one would assume that there is something specific you might wish to chat about?

i was very free from teen angst for some reason almost all my teenage years. i knew what the world was like. i knew what i wanted from life. i had no problems with school either. then i stumbled upon some occult books. i gave magick a try. it worked. gradually it made me question everything i thought i knew. all my values went up in smoke. this can be quite a shock for the unprepared.

possibly i'm less stable than many, but it threw me into deep depression. yeah, i know i should have been rejoicing. but that's kinda hard when your whole world has just come crashing down. it came at a very awkward time too, finals were coming up. i just didn't have enough resources to cope with what i was stirring up. also i became very isolated, as i couldn't think about anything else. which didn't help at all.

hmmm i'm not making much sense am i? i just read this and it seems impossibly vague.

i'm going to reflect upon this a bit and see if i can put my experience with magick forward in more concrete terms. but this was the general feeling at the time, anyhow. blah.

Here is the simple explanation of why we spell it "magick" instead of "magic"...

Go to a search engine. type in "magic". you'll get pages about how to do magic tricks.

Goto a search engine. type in magick. you'll get pages talking about... magick.

Badda-bing! Badda-boom! Badda-lone gunman!

Actually, I've noticed a difference between the practioners of magick and those of magic. I noticed it when I was looking through alt.magic.illusion or some such thing.

Practioners of magick are more than happy to help a newbie. They'll happily direct them to books, websites, and even give examples of how to do a ritual.

Illusionists, on the other hand, are snotty bastards. I read this post some grandfather made asking how to do that whole trick where you make a piece of candy disappear then you pull it from an audience member's ear. He just wanted to know so he could amuse his grandchildren. No problem, right? It's really a simple trick. Not so. The high and mighty magicians were all "Go read a book! You think we're gonna tell you how to do that? Its taken us YEARS to master and you want us to just TELL you how to do it!"

That's the distinction I make. Magickians are nice friendly people, and magicians are snotty bastards who need to remove the stick from their backsides.
